Mutherfucker. We have zero depth at RB--Crowell can be a workhorse but looks like he's banged up and Cannon could get blown up at any point. No WRs and no RBs is not optimal for a rookie QB.
I'd hate for Powell to finish his Jets career this way. Hopefully he makes a full recovery and is part of our running attack next year.
I was afraid this happenned when he left with a "neck" injury.... Jamal Charles is already signed... JAGS
I don't know if I'd use the word excited. Maybe interested. I don't think he's going to have much success running the ball at all but at least he's got some wheels on him and can catch. We still badly need a RB. Crowell is injured and not built for a full workload. McGuire isn't the answer either. I really really don't want to see Powell end his Jets career like this, but this is probably how it ends.
Charles was cut last week. Regardless, I don't want him. Worth calling the Bears for Jordan Howard maybe?
McGuire isn't eligible to play until week 9 against the Dolphins. I AM actually excited to see him, I still think he could be a very good player for us. https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/players/playerpage/2064670/elijah-mcguire Jets' Elijah McGuire: Returns to practice by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire McGuire (foot) returned to practice Wednesday, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports. McGuire's ability to practice at this stage suggests he has a shot to return from injured reserve when first eligible Week 9 against the Dolphins. He injured his foot in the early days of training camp and had surgery in late July, eventually landing on IR after final roster cuts. McGuire's potential return could lead to workload reductions for both Bilal Powell and Isaiah Crowell, with the second-year pro representing a greater threat to the top two options on the depth chart than current No. 3 back Trenton Cannon.
I'm the same way with McGuire. Interested, not necessarily excited. He's a marginal talent IMO, but could certainly help. Regardless, we need help. You can't toss Sam out there with Kearse, a deep threat and a brand new receiver plus a hurt RB and a rookie in the backfield.
I forgot Bilal is on the final year of his contract. Pair that with a neck injury and we've probably seen the last of him in green.
Damn. I will remember Bilal as a great Jet. Can't say a thing bad about him. This is a shitty departure. I'll hope he recovers and comes back to us, but it seems unlikely. I'm probably not alone in thinking we could have gotten so much more out of him had situations been different. There were times as recently as last year where Bilal looked as explosive as any back playing in the NFL - in small stretches. When I think of him, for some reason I always think back to Johnny Hector - another Jet RB who was very talented but never really stepped into the prime-time role. In Hector's case it was because he was in the shadow of Freeman McNeill. he was "Freeman-lite" Young Jets fans here, look him up. Anyway you cut it, this is bad news for the Jets, as injuries continue to mount at a very high rate.
They kicked the tires on Orleans Darkwa this offseason, and he's still a FA I believe. Give him a call!
