http://theredzone.org/Blog-Descript...ham-Jr--won-t-play-without-contract-extension Wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr., and the Giants appear to be headed for an ugly stare-down, Matt Lombardo of NJ Advance Media reports. One day after owner John Mara intimated that no Giants player, including Beckham, is untouchable when it comes to trades, a report surfaced from NFL Network's Ian Rapoport that Beckham Jr. will hold out if he doesn't receive a contract extension before training camp. Beckham is entering the final year of his rookie contract, and is due $8,459,000 this season. But Beckham's immature behavior on and off the field and his injury in 2017 have complicated the process. In four seasons, Beckham has caught 313 passes for 4,424 yards and 38 touchdowns while averaging 14.1 yards per reception. He has been named to three Pro Bowls.
I know he's becoming a headache but just how much does he make for them in merchandise. I don't know what it's like inside the USA. Outside the US he's a world-wide superstar in giant blue. It's March. They'll kiss and make up. They love his value to the franchise and he loves his big ol Nike deal. Just grow up and take the next 5 years for everything you can get. He's too good to lose. And New York is too big to lose for himself. Unless he will want to play in a small market. Sent from my SM-G610Y using Tapatalk
They just moved JPP. ODB is a star in the US as well, but sometimes players can not be worth the money or headache. Beckham's new contract should be around 18 mil a year annually.
They should take whatever they can get form him and cut bait. Show me the last team to win a super bowl paying a big time wr. And show me the last team to win one with a diva wr. Great athlete, but not winning with him .
the Browns should trade for him. Old teammates Jarvis Landry and Beckham Jr. along with Josh Gordon. That's an unbelievable WR corps. If they added Barkley in the draft too their offense would just be incredible
So you can win with a big time wr, and I wouldn’t call Jennings or Thomas elite, as long as you have a hof qb to throw to them? Wonder who made who?
You can win with or without an "all star" at any given position. it's been proven time and time again. There is no single one way to build a team. jennings was 4th in the NFL that year. thomas has been an elite WR for nearly a decade, but his numbers have dropped due to poor QB play. peyton was also a shell of himself that season they won. it was mostly defense and ball control. A back-up QB just won a SB with a decent group of WRs. Their leading receiver in the game was a 3rd string RB and their WRs combined for the same amount of recieving TDs as their QB. There isn't a single right way to build a roster, You just need to add as much talent as you can, and make a good gameplan and execute it week in and week out. A lot of stats have been skewed due to the sucess of NE. Tom brady was never better then when he had moss. They also traded a 1st round pick to get a number 1 WR.
How many Super Bowls did moss and Brady win again? Traded for cooks this year and won no Super Bowls, you need good receivers but not top dollar guys and not the ones that demand the ball. It’s just not paying off in this league for your wr Corp salaries to be top heavy. On top of that how much of a distraction obj is, giants would be smart to move on
you can't measure sucess on "superbowls" only. I'd say the steelers are a very successful team. they have the highest paid WR in the NFL. the falcons have been very successful as well with julio. the colts were a dominant team with the manning to harrison then manning to wayne combo's. The pats went 16-0 when they got moss and broke all kinds of records. They lost in the SB that year but still winning 18 games in a row is dam impressive. Most of the best QBs have had their "go to guy" brady is a rare exception and even with that, his bets year was with moss. imagine if brady had a julio or brown for a decade?
I hope the Giants pay him they are slowly becoming what the Jets usually are a complete circus..paying a headache WR 15-20 million dollars a year is not the way you win Super Bowls.. The Giants and Mara seem to be worried as much about selling season tickets and jerseys as winning these days.
Browns could trade the first overall pick, giving Giants 1 & 2. Or the 4th, but I'd think Giants would want more than that. Rams could trade a first and Gurley. Or multiple firsts and keep Gurley. Don't think he'll get traded because Giants probably setting an astronomical price.
Divas going to be divas. He's going to hold out for a contract and expect to get paid big with all the off field issues? Good for him, just keep him away from the Jets.
