GREAT JOB CLAIRBORNE> GIVING UP A GRAND SLAM AFTER WE TIED THE GAME AT 4 IS EXACTLY WHAT THE YANKEES needed. Need to take the next two games blehhhh
That lineup without Gardner, Jeter, Soriano, etc. is brutal Reynolds batting second. Strikeout machine, should be batting 6 or 7. Wells 5th, Overbay 6th (and he hits well below the Mendoza line vs. lefties)...
Been like that all year.. When healthy you see a WC definitely. When not healthy, just don't have enough to push for that final WC spot.
3 back of TB (4 in the loss) and 1.5 of CLE. So basically we have the sox tonight then @TOR and vs SF. Gonna have to take 5/7 game at least to have a shot heading into the TB series. We have to be back 3 back or less heading into this series. Unfortunately Cleveland is inbetween us. After TB we have Houston so you figure we are still somehow in this to be strung along
Amazing how little there has been to talk about in this thread this year..only 14 pages and it could easily end at 15 or 16.
Not really a fun year to talk about, way too many injuries and poor pitching and poor bullpen. Joe Giradi though has done a good job getting this bunch of players to produce.
So how are we gonna get under the luxury tax? Pettitte, Mo, Soriano, Youkilis and Wells will be gone for sure. They need to re-sign Cano as well, will be an interesting offseason.
Which is dumb when you're the Yankees:grin: AROD has the MLB record for most Grand Slams, just passed Lou Gherig last night and had the game winning hit/rbis. We are 3 back Bal is 2.5 KC is 2.5 TEX is .5 Yanks are 3.5 back of TB and 3 of CLE. TEX/KC play and TB/BAL play. CLE plays HOU... If we win today, we gain a game on either TEX or KC and TB or BAL. Basically we have to win out to have a shot at the playoffs becaue if we lose at least 1 team is gaining breating room on us
I don't want to spoil the ceremony for anyone so if you don't want to know stop reading this post but I have been sitting on this info for 2 months and can't wait any longer:grin: I am shocked it hasn't leaked out which is great so Mariano should be surprised. The Yankees will be retiring his # today. Enjoy the ceremony, it should be an unforgettable one for an all time great Yankee and all time great person in the game of baseball.
42 is retired all over baseball because of Jackie Robinson. Nobody else was ever going to wear 42 again anyway, Rivera was the last remaining grandfathered player to have it before the # was retired in the late '90's.
We know it has been retired across baseball but it was expected they'd have a huge day for him next year and retire the #. It's unusual to do so while the player is active.
