There are very few demonstrably great public figures. Muhammad Ali was one of those and we aren't likely to see another like him in our lifetimes.

A sports figure is usually very conventional in their views and Ali was the unconventional man at his peak. He stood against layers of tyranny and spoke the truth as he saw it and was willing to suffer the consequences despite the prospect of enormous and irreplaceable financial loss.

If we were all a bit more like him things like Iraq would never have happened.

Ok now that I've had a few glasses of Brunello, I need to understand that comment.

What do you mean "Iraq would never have happened"?

    The country of Iraq?

    Mesopotamia?

    Iraq's independence from Great Britain?

    Sadam Hussein?

The Iraqi war over its invasion of Kuwait?

The Iraqi war started in 2003?

The civil war in Iraq now?

    The ISIS occupation?

What could being more like Ali have prevented?

Don't think a bull could bruise the butterfly before the bee stung him badly.

Ali in his prime would've eaten Tyson alive. This is a guy that beat Frazier and Foreman at the top of their game. Tyson beat who? Razor Ruddock? Mitch Blood Green? Impressive.

Doesn't matter bud it was the fashion in which they were destroyed. Please be aware I don't think Teddy Atlas Tyson could beat Ali, I think it's just that 20 yr old version. And because of that mental instability Ali is the GOAT. I think one version of Tyson could have won.

Tyson was an animal who had most of his opponents psyched out before the fight even started. Ali beat much better fighters than him and was impossible to psyche out.

    Ali>Tyson

Tyson was a bully and Ali would've George Foeman'd him...... Physically, psychologically, and spiritually.

Tyson was a quitter. Unlike Joe Frazier

That's not the debate. I'm saying that 20 yr old freak show could've beat anybody. That's the extent of the point.

I want to emphasize my respect for The Greatest.

But I say Ali beats the 20 yo douche bag for the reasons I stated. That the 20 yo doesn't beat him.

Tyson was weak Psychologically and spiritually and Ali would've managed to exploit those weaknesses to beat him.

    Tyson?!?

Ali would have fucked up Iraq.

    Probably Iran and Syria too.
