Because we were thoroughly dominating them. That drives culminates in a field goal at the very least. Reed actually took that ball to the house but it got moved back because of a dumb block in the back. They scored anyways.

Went from potentially up 17-0 to up 14-7 and scored 3 more points the rest of the way as they made adjustments and we didn't.

It didn't end up mattering in seeding because we were the 5 seed anyways and not in contention for the division.

But man was that frustrating. If anyone else was there that day the SOJ sentiments were flowing throughout the stadium. Crowd was pretty damn quiet the rest of the game.

Nah because they have won nothing since 01/13/69. As for the championship flag waving in the breeze that was just a wonderful moment for the fans who saw it. I certainly do not hope that close to 50 years go by in your NYJ fandom. Trust me if that can happen & I wonder how you would feel at that point in time. Do not give the BS either that U would not care if they have won nothing in the upcoming years until you reach my seniority of NYJ fandom which goes back to 1965

Vinny balled out for the Jets. When they gave him some protection he made teams pay. The Monday night game against the Dolphins was one of the best in franchise histiory. The playoff game against the Broncos was other players fault. Keith Byars fumble was crushing. Vinny also had that questionable QB sneak against the Seahawks. He never crossed the goal line but they got the call. That was a home game call for sure.

They wouldn't have taken Marriotta anyway. They would have stuck to the script and either traded that pick for more picks or taken a defensive player.

You are correct but this KC loss is very underrated in terms of catastrophic losses. The Jets were defending champs on their home field and had a first and goal inside the 1 yard line. A TD would have given them a 4 point lead halfway through the 4th quarter. The entire complexion of the game changes.......Namath's bootleg fails - the Jets are forced to tie. 2 plays later KC is in the EZ. Good night....... We won't know if they would have gone out to Oakland and won but I would of liked their chances. I'm pretty sure they would have beaten the Vikings.....they beat them the very next year without Namath.......

That failed drive inside the one yard line has started a demoralizing decades long chain of events............and it hasn't stopped yet.

Today's game doesn't even crack the top 50. Almost nothing is expected of this team

The 1986 loss to Cleveland was the worst. The game was won. And we had already beaten Denver on Monday Night Football in the regular season. It would have set up a Jets vs Giants Super Bowl.

gotta separate regular season and post season. there are sssooooooo many games that qualify for a darkside style list like this.

regular season - 1993 eagle game, 1981 miami tie game, 2000 raven game, 1997 lions game, 1994 spike game, 1999 achilles game.

post season - 1981 bills WC, 1986 browns, 1982 mud bowl, 2004 steelers, 1998 broncos.

couple things about that injury - if foley was still on the team things may have been different AND there was some turf issues at the stadium and i believe the turf was supposed to be replaced after the 98 season but got nixed.

We agree on a lot of games.....I would toss in the Falcons 1983 and 1992, Eagles 1996, Redskins 1987, 2003 and 2007, 1998 49ers, 2010 Ravens, the Bengals last year.....

Ray Lucas played great that year. The problem was Meier. He was awful and awful for too long. Parcells was in a drunken haze at that time and stayed with him much too long.

Being a Jets fan for nearly 50 years now there are too many gut punching losses for me to count.

This year it's been gut punching wins, this team was clearly crap coming out of the gate, rebuilding tank mode and they screwed up the tanking by winning.
