NASA's InSight lands successfully on Mars. Amazing. This is just astounding. It's been done before, but what's on board now (as well as advanced cameras amongst other things), I can't even begin to imagine the type of information we'll get. Good job NASA. Wow. It freaks me out. I read this thing about Michael Collins (Apollo 11) who orbited the dark side/far side of the Moon (cue Pink Floyd) before the lunar landing. He said there were so many stars in the sky it was blinding. They were so bunched together, it was like a tapestry where you could hardly make out dark space in between them. I think I would've died on the spot . . . aside from fckn orbiting in space in a goddamn Hazmat suit. Hell no. Collins is considered the forgotten astronaut, but the mission could not have been pulled off without him. https://mars.nasa.gov/insight/ EDIT & P.S.: Half way decent article on Collins. GTF outta here. I'll just sit on my stoop in Queens and watch the world on terra firma, thanks. https://www.thevintagenews.com/2018/02/27/apollo-11-michael-collins/
Where would I be without a horror movie reference? Well, it's actually Sci-Fi. Kinda. 'The Angry Red Planet'. I love this movie. It's terrible.
Roger Goodell is considering putting an NFL game in Mars' capital city next fall. The two yet to be announced teams would get a bye week though after the trip, at least. -source: ESPN

Reading some of the posts here lately, I'm pretty sure the Martians have already infiltrated society and are secretly harvesting human brain matter for consumption piece by piece.
I know. But in the past it was roughly $1.7 billion there and back, so not too shabby considering the new technology, dedication, engineering and ingenuity involved. And it's gonna be there two Earth years. So yeah, fck Woody the rube and The New Dump, I always say. Why would I lose an opportunity to crap on him? Thanks and congrats to the Brits, by the way. They invented some of the seismic technology being used. The whole thing is mind-blowing to me.
HESS OIL! InSight is running mostly - or completely - on solar power now. It's so freaking cool. Podcasts: https://mars.nasa.gov/insight/search/?q=podcast Webcasts: https://mars.nasa.gov/insight/multi...ch=&category=240:183&url_suffix=?site=insight
Anyone remember this aerial photo of Mars? Someone started it that it was Anthony Becht's face, hahaha. I can't remember who started it . . . it was probably me!
Starring Darren McGavin, haha. This was before the most excellent 'Kolchak: The Night Stalker' TV show/series. Damn, I loved that show, short-lived as it was.
