But he's never won anything. Btw, he was a little before my time but Ernie Banks never made it to a WS (when there were no playoffs) so I guess you wouldn't have wanted a first ballot HOFer and an all century player on your team because...you know...he never won anything. Such a stupid argument. Mack has elevated that entire team. Can't imagine what he could have done for the Jets.
It is very disappointing, especially with how dominant he has been. With him on the team we could literally spend every draft pick and FA pick up on Oline next year. Maybe a wide receiver/running back. We'd be set.
By all reports MacCagnan tried hard to get Mack, and apparently offered at least as much as the Bears did, but the Raiders wanted to get him out of the AFC, so how is this an indictment of him? To be honest, I suspect that this is actually aimed at other posters. Some people didn't think he was worth two first round draft picks. Even if Mack gets 20 sacks this year that won't be disproven until five years from now, when we see what happens with those two first round picks. It's not even known for sure yet if the Bears made a good deal - if Trubisky keeps playing like he did yesterday of course they did, but if not they're just like so many Bears teams in the past that went nowhere, with a great defense let down by a bad offense, and with no first round picks that they could use to do something about it. Obviously the Bears are very happy with the deal they made right now. Why that matters to any Jets fans is beyond me.
The Daily Schnooze (Manish Mehta) is reporting that the Jets offered the Raiders their 2019 1st round pick and their 2020 2nd round pick. The Jets would have given additional compensation as well, and were prepared to improve their offer, but were never given the chance. Thank God is all I can say. While I would have loved to have seen Mack on the Jets, it wouldn't have made any difference if Darnold was injured or shell shocked from the beating he took because of a lousy OL and no playmakers/weapons around him on offense.
Jets definitely have ONE if not two more wins with Mack. We absolutely beat Cleveland and I would even say we beat Miami. RT had all day in the pocket vs us.
We would also have a significantly better chance of winning this week because not only would he be on the Jets, but he wouldn’t be on the Bears.
We'd have a significantly better chance to win this week if all our top offensive weapons weren't injured and if our guy (Leonard Williams) decides to show up and have a day.
lol.....insert obligatory "OP's idiotic thread didn't age well" meme here < > Hey OP....you still asking "durrr Khalil Mack who?!" ???? just curious there, pally-boy, lol.
In a year's time the Bears could lose the wild card game and find themselves with a losing record only to realize they have no first round picks or cap space. Not even counting the possibility that Mack could get hurt or play worse. So just like it was too soon to call Trubisky a bust last year it's too soon to call the trade a success. (Fwiw the Herschel Walker trade looked like a win for the Vikings at first.)
You were right, the Mack trade worked out for them. At the same time, I'm glad the Jets didn't trade for him. Because we need those two first rounders to get Darnold help on offense, and Mack might have gotten us a couple extra wins and saved Bowles's job.
I was wrong - if The Bears make the Super Bowl with him on the roster K Mack gets us a few more wins which extends the Bowles and Macc connection- is that what we wanted? I’ll pass But I’ll also eat crow if they do it
