@101GangGreen101 Let me add I don't know how anyone can question a QB prospect's field vision w/o access to their all 22 tape. It's not like we could routinely see Allen failing to see WRs breaking wide open on regular game film like you can sometimes see watching Oklahoma. To be fair to Mayfield, his offense is built to get at least one wide open WR on every play and he finds them more often than not. That said you can actually see guys break free on his tape; you'd be hard press to watch Wyoming tape and see that.

He has inconsistencies, which maybe why some say hes not accurate, but in reality he can make all of the throws. Being inconsistent isn't necessarily the same as being inaccurate. In all, I don't see him as a QB that will make those around him better, but he can be a stellar quarterback as long as he develops his weak skill-sets (touch, anticipation and footwork).

In terms of the 2nd paragraph, it is tough, but even in a clean pocket, you can see him scrambling to make a play at times. Sometimes you gotta stand in the pocket and buy time in there instead of scrambling around. I tend to look at a QBs tendencies, it helps when you dont have the all 22. Allen's game to me is "jumpy" at times erratic. For a man his size, he should be more calm and cool in the pocket. There were also occasions when his first and second read weren't there, he jumped out of the pocket into traffic. Yes, the pocket was bad at times, I don't discredit that. Maybe more talent will make Allen a little bit more confident in himself and his team, but its tough to say.

I don't like Mayfield, Legler btw. I know who I would pick between the 2. I think Allen is just as much if not more of a competitor then Mayfield. Allen has adversity and has handled it well. Thats another ? mark on Mayfield.

Here's something I don't understand: you say that Ok's offense is desigend to get at least one receiver open; also, I don't know if you've said this, but others have, that OK "schemes" receivers open...if this is the case why don't ALL teams do this? What are they doing that Wyoming or anyone else doesn't/can't?

In any case, isn't a huge positive that Mayfield can scan the field and find this open guy consistently and complete a pass to him?

Not being snarky, I'm truly confused on this aspect.

This is what I see also when I watch Allen. Given that he wasn't coached by a specialist when he was in high school, and that he is still obviously learning things, I really think he should've stayed in school another year. Trying to learn what he needs to OTJ in the pros is almost impossible.

The majority of college football teams run the Spread or a version of it nowadays. That majority is even greater in the Big 12; OK just has better talent. Old school coaches like Wyoming's are traditionalists.

I think Mayfield knowledge of his offense and his decision making are his best traits. That still doesn't mean he deserves to be picked 3rd overall.

I just don't know if he will be able to overcome it and be consistent like a Stafford. He has a great backstory as indicated, but I just don't know. I mean he is 21 years of age too.

Great breakdown. This is what concerns me way more with Allen than his completion percentage.

The seeing the field issue was something I noticed last year and I don't think he really improved on it. I think he is accurate, but he needs to speed up his processing ability quickly.

LOL @ Orlovsky having a conniption over Allen passing up a hot route in an empty set that would have gain his team maybe 5 yards in the midst of getting blown the f*ck out against Oregon in lieu of possibly getting a bigger gain downfield.

gotta learn to take what the defense gives you and live for another down. Game was out of reach, but take the 5+ yards and look to get a big play in next time if its there.

But there is one thing Allen isn't after watching him play and hes not inaccurate. Inconsistent? Sure, without top notch coaching the majority of his life. I would say hes actually not doing AS bad as many indicated.

"From 2000 to 2017, the best quarterbacks to complete their college career with a completion percentage of less than 58 were Ken Dorsey, J.P. Losman, Jay Cutler, Kyle Boller, Matthew Stafford, Patrick Ramsey, and Tyrod Taylor."

Regarding the bold; easy for you to say.

Gentlemen head to your corners and come out fighting (Orlovsky vs Simms).

He won't last long hurdling and diving about like that though, good stuff but not what you want for your potential FQB

He's looking good. Still got a long way to go to reach his potential. But you can see why a bunch of us were touting him during the period leading up to the draft.
