The Jaguars selected Sterling in the seventh round of the 2017 draft. He entered the league as a receiver, but quickly made the transition to tight end. At 6-3 and 240 pounds, Sterling is a difficult matchup for some defenders. Sterling spent a portion of his rookie season on the practice before the Jaguars signed him to the active roster on Oct. 20. He played primarily special teams. Last year, Sterling appeared in 10 games and caught 12 passes for 110 yards. In the preseason this year, Sterling caught three passes for 30 yards. Sterling made the Jaguars initial 53-man roster, but was cut after the team claimed four on the waiver wire. Sterling should be pretty familiar with the Jets -- he grew up roughly an hour from MetLife Stadium. A Belmar native, Sterling played high school football at Manasquan, and college ball at Monmouth University. Sterling finished his four-year collegiate career with 212 catches for 2,615 yards and 22 touchdowns. He holds the school record for career receptions, and is only the second to be drafted in the NFL. The Dolphins selected John Nalbone, also a tight end, with the 161st overall pick in the 2009 draft.
Unless he is something special I can't see the jets carrying 4 TE specially with ASJ returning after 2 games
Even if it's temporary, it's nice to see a local kid getting some work. Hopefully, he makes the best of this opportunity! Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk
I read that article. It has to be wrong about which draft in which he was selected, because it talks about the Jags adding him to the active roster on Oct. 20, how many games he appeared in, and how many passes he caught. He had to have been drafted in the 2016 draft.
When Neil Sterling is in the conversation for starting tight end you know your fucked...If someone offered me 1 million dollars to pick this guy out of a line up I would close my eyes say a prayer and hope I picked the right guy.
With Morton a 4 TE set might be an answer to our QB lineup. They won't have to throw downfield as often and could use the 4 TE's to keep the chains moving. Slowly but maybe steadily.
Stringfellow... The guy they just claimed. Fair http://www.newyorkjets.com/news/art...aac8e-d92e-4885-8d56-9a9c9700379d?campaign=fb
