The Sheldon I don't understand unless we got another good young player in return. Forte doesn't bother me. Powell was way better then him last year and forte is 100% gone after this season regardless so better to get a pick for him now, ride powell and see if a young RB like maguire can step up as well

If we dump Sheldon, we should seek a proven starting caliber WR or OL + a pick.

I wouldn't say he is a great defensive player, he is good. JJ watt, Von Miller are great defensive players.

Sheldon is nowhere near those guys, he has not changed the outcomes of games like the above mentioned players.

That's why I don't think the jets will get a 2nd round pick for him, teams are aware of what the jets are faced with in regards to Sheldon, contract year and immaturity issues.

Any team that wants Sheldon has leverage against the jets, no matter how much value the jets FO think he has they are in a no win situation.

Jets are trying to get rid of anyone worth value who isn't in the future plans. McCown was brought in moreso to be a mentor and a stop gap to his eventual benching or injury, and for one or both of the young guys to take over.

The day we drafted Leonard Williams I thought the writing was on the wall for MoWilk. But then Mac decided to keep Mo and send Snacks packing (Snacks = best NT in the game and is now the best defensive player and team captain on the Giants squad).

So I no longer have any clue what Mac will do from day to day or from player to player.

We COULD have had the best D-line in FB locked up for years with no issues: Sheldon Richardson, Damon Harrison, Leonard Williams.

    But nooooo....

Sorry buddy, I got my own tuition I got to pay off. Maybe the Jets should pay both of ours off in compensation for the long time suffering.

with this years new rules on cuts... there's going to be a ton of young players getting released and I expect Mac to be very active since that's the direction we're heading in, youth movement.

Sounds like Williams has been having a somewhat down offseason, but he did seem decent in last weeks' game. Overall, I disagree with wanting to scrap him. The guy is only 26 and been a productive player in that short time. Only time he really stands out as being bad was playing safety against the Raiders a couple seasons ago.

Especially after giving away McDougle, whose arrow was also trending up this offseason, it could be a mistake to keep depleting the depth at CB. If he were to have a good season, there's no reason he couldn't part of the team's plans going forward to some degree.

whoever doesnt start between burris and roberts will be the primary back up outside. williams is fourth on the outside depth chart.

and we can find a back up slot corner for far cheaper than williams current salary.

Word is the new long snapper also plays safety. So I think we should be good to go.

Where do you see Roberts ahead of Williams?
Just in terms of what I've seen, Williams is clearly the better player.
I know the coaches of spoken highly of Roberts, but I haven't seen it.

and where are you finding this backup slot corner?

McDougle had more upside then either of these guys, and we gave him away for nothing.
I'd rather not do that with Williams as well, while banking on completely unproven backups.

claiborne didnt play last week and roberts was ahead of williams

paying a 5th corner 2+ mill is a poor allocation of resources

Leaving yourself with no corners is poor roster construction.

Roberts has not shown he is ready, we have no one after Roberts, and no backup slot guy if we dump Williams.

My guess is Williams would be starting at some point this season.
Claiborne is injury prone, Burris is unknown, and Roberts has not looked good to this point.
If Williams is gone, we'll be back to signing guys off the street like '14.
that would be inexcusable to try to save 2M with lots of cap.

yet, theyve both looked better than williams

his options are going to be to take a pay cut or kick rocks ... he wont get more than the league min from any other team
