With Crowell gone and Powell at 30, signing Bell shouldn't stop us from drafting Montgomery in the 3rd.
As a one-time Fournette supporter, and hoping the Jets drafted him, I've gone the other way. Since becoming a pro he's shown poor work ethics. There are better options.
I'm with you. Saw Fournette play a few times live in college and he was a man amongst boys. He's just a man amongst men in the NFL and nothing special.
Bell at a steep discount..otherwise Yeldon Draft a RB along with shoring up the Line These latest moves>>>>positive
Im not ready to write him off.He was the best player on that terrible Jags offense last season & was the main focal point of opposing defenses. Is he the next Earl Campbell like we thought he might be? No. But as part of a RB by commitee w a better surrounding cast i think hes a legit weapon.Great for short yardage, undersized D’s & finishing out games
I hate that this guy sits atop the Jets franchise record book for most rushing yards in a game. Hopefully Leveon can make his stay there a short one.
If this move happens and they do decide to go after Bell, I just hope that they front load the hell out of that contract. Make sure you can get out of it after 2 seasons.
The problem with front loading the contract is if he plays well he'll hold out when his low salary years kick in (even thought he already got his money). That's what happened with Thomas Jones.
You missed my point. If we pay him 90-95% of his money in the first 2 years of a 3 year contract and he plays well, he won't play the 3rd year for the last 5-10% because he'll feel underpaid and we will not have gotten the bargain we paid for. When we actually WANT him to play. The piddling money will mean nothing at that point.
By then, his replacement could be on the roster or be found in the draft. The OL should be good enough to make less talented RB's than Bell look good.
