Jets director of college scouting Matt Bazirgan is leaving for a high-level position in the Texans’ personnel department, per @AaronWilson_NFL. #Jets

Wow, second year in a row we lose a high level personnel executive. Might mean we are actually doing something right.

Can't imagine this is good for our rebuilding team though, hope we decide to hire someone with experience and not just promote some small time intern or something.

I'm good as long as we keep Heimerdinger for another season or two. That's the guy behind the guy.

I can only hope that he will be replaced by somebody who values the O line over the defensive tackle position.

Sounds like Mac. Signed two OL before drafting some DTs. I agree!

Maybe Mac has some good contacts from another team and can bring someone fresh in...would love someone from Pittsburgh or Baltimore.

Or Atlanta. They've had some good drafts lately.

I hope that we find someone who recognizes the better player.

No big loss. How hard is it to draft BPA available every year.

I would get upset about it if the Jets had a demonstrated level of success drafting the last two years, especially in the later rounds. Since that's not the case, I'll look forward to the next guy who takes up the position.

Yeah I suppose its good that our scouts are getting promoted elsewhere. These past two drafts have changed my opinion on Mac. I think they were at the very least above average drafts. Where I think we still need to improve is getting more value in the mid rounds, but I think we may have found some this draft. Though Mac has been good at taking UDFAs and cheap younger vets so that is nearly as good.

It does make you wonder if the Jets ought to commit more money to scouting, especially the lower level colleges - there are good players to be found there but you need scouts on the ground to find them.

They lost him eh? have they tried looking in the last place they remember having him? once they have checked everywhere he should be they need to look everywhere he shouldn't be and I bet he will turn up before too long

I don’t think it means much.. Mac came from the Texans and his staff probably still has contacts with them

I read an article that mentioned the Jets do have a larger department than many teams. (sorry no link) I think it stated only four D2 players were drafted and two were by the Jets. We also brought in several players from non name schools as UDFA. Will they pan out is the bigger question?
