That could be. Or it could be that McDermott didn't like the make up of the current team and decided to tear it down, but then saw they were winning. But when they got trashed by the Jets, he realized his first assessment was right and went back to rebuilding for the long term. Or, he could just be stupid.
The qbs coming out and some of the fa qbs are light years better Sent from my SM-G930T using Tapatalk
It takes a lot of balls and job security to pretty much bench a player that makes you competitive. Bills look liked a JV team yesterday against the Chargers. Bowles won't do what McDermott did because he knows it would probably be similar in result and because he does not have the job security McDermott has (being a first year coach).
I don't like it. For starters the Jets are drafting #12, which hopefully is way too low. Second, they miss out on all the top prospects except Arden Key, who fits one of their most glaring needs and Derwin James, who doesn't fit, but is a great player. QB is a glaring need too, but I'm not very high on Allen at this point. I don't think there's any way he'd be able to start next year, and think there's a pretty good chance he will be a bust. At least Mac would be taking a QB, and over a DL or another S, so there's that. Unless it's based purely on measurables and ceiling, I think Baker Mayfield will be drafted before Allen, and will be very surprised if Derwin James drops to #15. If the draft were to pan out this way, I think I'd rather the Jets trade down and take either Bryce Love or Derius Guice, or stay put and take Key. If they trade down, then they should be able to trade back up if need be to take Mayfield or maybe even Allen.
Man If Darnold starts to slip to 10 and the Jets don’t move up for him I’d pretty much freak out. I’m not convinced that Allen is a complete wash out yet but I do think the Jets are one of the few teams that cannot draft him after the whole Hackenburg fiasco. If the draft did play out this way I’d take Mayfield and not look back.
If darnold slips to 10 it may be because we passed on him. 1 game out of a wildcard spot and 1 game out of the 4th pick overall right now. The league is a big bucket of mediocrity right now
The fact that we are one game out of the 6th seed and 1 game out of the 4th overall pick is the most jets thing ever
I'm with you. Watson was there for the taking and they passed!!! They should have said to themselves: Even if Hackenberg plays well, this guy is a MUCH BETTER prospect than Hack. Watson could be the starter and Hack could be the backup or 3rd string behind McCowan until he would get some seasoning and become the backup. Or they could trade Hack. Anything, but just DRAFT WATSON! Nope. So frustrating....
I just get this bad feeling that Allen is a Sanchez redux, (athletic, inexperienced, and inaccurate) but with better measurables.
IMO Allen is a much better prospect than Sanchez ever was, at least in terms of arm strength, experience and athleticism. He may be no smarter than Sanchez was, however. Sanchez played at a higher level against stiffer competition and had quality players around him, but he only started one year. I'm pretty sure that Allen started for at least 2 years, if not 3. Speaking of Sanchez, I got really pissed Saturday night while watching the USC-UCLA game when they advertised the something anniversary of the "Butt Fumble." Let it go already. I wasn't a fan of Sanchez, but he doesn't deserve that.
