At least our ST's were actually serviceable if not starting to gel. Absolutely needed to be blown up and redone. Should be easy to replace.. Pro Bowl kickers grow on trees.. Who needs good ST's anyway? All they do is provide field position for the most part.
I don’t think the intention was to blow it up, but he took the money and I think it’s more than he’s worth for one year of success. Hindsight may prove me wrong but it’s not unreasonable for Mac to not have matched that offer.
I have to disagree JB. We were kept in a few games with Myers and Roberts. The odds of Macc finding another Pro Bowl kicker aren't very good considering his record of finding a pro bowl anything is thin. If we let Roberts go, we will regret it and our ST's will regress.. Boyer has to be pissed today.
The only thing with Roberts is that he eats up a spot on the roster and he sucks as a receiver. He is worth the spot tho if he can reproduce what he did last year
He's done fairly well on kickers of all things. Catanzaro and Myers had their best years here and then cashed out. He also let Folk walk, which was probably his best season. On the other hand, Roberts is going to be a problem to replace.
A league source confirmed to The Seattle Times that Myers will sign with the Seahawks. The New York Daily News reported Myers will get a deal worth up to $15.5 million with $7 million guaranteed. An average salary of $4 million per year would make him one of the 10 highest-paid kickers in the NFL.
No kidding! There's still 2 other phases of the game remaining, anyone can succeed at 66% of a complete team.....
Besides, kickers only lead the league in scoring in like, what, 85% of the seasons? Who needs scoring in today's NFL????
It's the met Life winds. You need a shitty kicker so the wind blows the ball through the uprights. Kick accurately and the winds blowing the ball outside of the post'.
He'll work for food. Should be right up Macc's alley. Should get him off the Exit 7 ramp on the NJTPK.
Good for Mac not paying a freaking kicker that’s been inconsistent at best for his career 4 mil a year.
