Kimberley A. Martin @KMart_LI Source confirms QB Brian Hoyer is visiting the #Jets, as @JasonLaCanfora said. I'm told he'll arrive at the facility later today. Let the show begin.
No reason to panic, we had rg3 in our doors for a long period of time and didn't bother signing him. Hopefully we will let hoyer do the same.
LOL Thank God Mac doesn't have TGG as his brain trust This is a very good GM move to A) give us leverage with Fitz B) Seriously replacing Fitz with Hoyer. Don't forget both Fitz and Hoyer had very good seasons until the last game when they both blew it for their teams. I like Fitz but the difference between one average QB and another is not that great. Plus, Hoyer is cheaper to aquire. RF is popular with our receivers but this is a business. I don't believe the Jets were as serious with RG3 and with the QB impasse continuing Hoyer is a more likely candidate imo
Hopefully this is nothing more than a negotiation tactic. Maybe Marshall and Decker will sabotage the visit.
Hoyer is a below - average QB. He's not worth wasting cap space on. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
Marshall and Decker are going to get in trouble for sending those videos now lol. Fitz better be worried. I'll bet the present Hoyer an offer.
Fitpatrick '14 with Texans. 17 td's, 8 int's, 206 ypg (12 games) Hoyer '15 with Texans: 19 td's, 7 int's, 236 ypg (14 games)
With a worse completion percentage, way less games played, a more fragile body and no chemistry with our two 1,000 yard receivers. Other than that, yea, they are basically one in the same.
I don't want Hoyer but, really, people are acting like Fitz is a super star. He was good but he was a product of the system and there's little reason to think that Hoyer couldn't do the same. Again, I don't want Hoyer, but I would rather have Hoyer at like $7m a season than Fitz at $15m or whatever he's asking for.
In a vacuum, yes but on this team Fitz > Hoyer because of his in depth knowledge of Gailey's offense.
Fitzpatrick had prior experience in Gaily's system where also happened to have the best years of his career that previously earned him a big contract as a starter. Hoyer is a journeyman backup QB who has never had the type of success Fitz had in the league and there's absolutely no reason to believe he ever will.
I pretty much agree with this except it would have to be Hoyer at about 3 or 4mil. 7mil for him is quite high
Fair enough. I just pulled those numbers out of my ass. I don't think Fitz is looking for $15mil (maybe more like $12mil) either, but it ultimately comes down to cost. At the same dollar value I'd obviously rather have Fitz. At a few million more I'd rather have Fitz. If it's $6mil more I'd rather have Hoyer and $6mil.
