Wait y’all really think there’s not significant difference in terms of philosophies and assignments from scheme to scheme?

Remember when Rex went to Buffalo and switched to his 3-4 defense from Jim Schwartz 4-3 defense(that they excelled with the year prior)

Guys like Jerry Hughes were prime examples of those who excelled in one but not the other.

For some guys the wider they line up the better, the closer to the ball the better.

For linebackers the further off the ball the better where they can use their speed and not engage with blockers immediately.

Same for Corners. A guy like Sherman is Elite when he doesn’t have to cover laterally. In a straight line or keeping the ball in front of him there was no one better.

But a guy like Revis he’s better at shadowing a Receivers, following their breaks and breaking up passes.

So just because most teams are in nickel doesn’t mean every team runs the same
    Stuff.
