Lots of great throwers in there. I’d prefer Darnold be remembered as becoming a champion, though, not for being the best that never did.
the whole 'being remembered as a champion' is total bullshit. The best competitor in the world can be stuck on a shit team and never sniff the playoffs. It's a team game. Need coaches, players, and all sides of the ball to contribute, and then get a little luck on top of that in order to win it all.
Hold on a cotton-picking minute there. How does the GOAT lose 3 SBs? How does the GOAT get suspending for cheating? The guy stole a SB from the Rams when his organization stole the Rams plays/gameplan/who knows what else considering Goodell destroyed all the evidence. Shouldn’t even have been in the SB because Brady fucking FUMBLED the ball-there was no “tuck”. What a load of shit. The guy was GIFTED a SB with the worst offensive call in the history of history. Skittles runs that ball in and he’s got FOUR SB loses tying Kelly. Is Kelly in the GOAT convo? You give Brady credit for that win? Atlanta produced a bigger choke than a neck-less virgin on Johnny Wad Holmes. That should have been FIVE losses. Please. He’s not the GOAT. Never will be.
Still rather have a guy with “it” factor, which is clearly what the Jets FO was after. “It” can make a good team great. Without “it” you’ve got Tony Romo.
I would argue that Dan Marino was the best pure QB I’ve ever seen and he lost to the GOAT his one trip and never made it back.
I hate QB comparisons. The sign of a great QB is a distinct style of play unique to that player. I think Darnold has better feet & better accuracy than Romo. Just for fairness ill give the edge to Romo in arm strength. The reason the comps are being made is the ability to inprovise when plays brewk down
Read my post again, carefully. I already pointed all that shit out. He had a lot of luck. But the fact remains, he is in the running for one of the best if not the best ever. The point I tried to make over and over on my response, apparently not well, is that you can not just measure QB talent by SB appearances. .
Maybe Witten actually knows something about him from being inside the NFL fraternity, and knows how he communicates with his players behind closed doors, and doesn't judge him by a presser when the coach is obviously being generic with the media.
I would take Romo any day of the week. Romo will get you 10 wins but your defense will get you a championship.
If Darnold is as good as advertised, some day in the (hopefully) not too distant future they'll be comparing some rising draftee to him.
Philly says differently. They matched NE offensively. The NFL is an offensive driven league now. That old defense wins championships is what is hampering the Jets for decades. Parcells,Herm, Mangini, Rex, Bowles all defensive coaches and they pick defensive players. We haven't been to the playoffs but once. Time to flip the script and get with the program.
If Darnold's ceiling is Romo I'll take it. That level of quarterback play will make you playoff competitive every season; and with a few breaks, potentially win a Super Bowl.
I hear ya. What get's me is if they get this so called stellar defense, they still won't win because they can't score.
