This is exactly what I was going to post. If the receiving corps leave Darnold out to dry again, 14 points sounds about right. If they rediscover their hands (or discover stick ‘em), then 23 sounds like the floor of what Darnold can put up. And, of course, the longer that the offense has the ball and the more points they put up, the better the energy will be on defense. Heart says, “Jets win!” But the head says, “Nope.” I just don’t have any faith in these receivers.
The Browns held 2 of the best offense's in the game to 21. While 21 is not a killer defensive accomplishment, it does suggest their D is much better than projected. Further to suggest the Jets will score 21 or more after Pitt and NO could only manage 21 is crazy. The Browns easily could have won both games. btw.. Jarvis Landry is playing. Browns 21 Jets 13 This team could be 2-7 heading into the Buffalo game. I'm fine with that so long as they develop Darnold.
Actually they were favored a year ago in week 3 of 2017, by 1.5 points over the Colts on the road. https://www.forbes.com/sites/alexka...-predictions-against-the-spread/#571e02273d8a They lost 31-28.
I would've been more worried about this game if they were going in 2-0 it would've been the classic trap game before facing Jacksonville. I think they'll play a good game. Cleveland is 0-18 since the start of 2017 they've mastered the art of losing. It'll take a team on their level of ineptitude to end their streak. That team wil be Oakland.
I think the Jets will either gut out a tough win or the Browns win handily if the Jets don't put up any fight. With a solid pass rush and solid #1 cover corner, the Browns could be tough unless the Jets can get their rushing attack going and create a TO or two of their own.
I voted a Jet win, but i wouldn't be surprised if the Jets out-Cleveland Cleveland. It would be the Jetsy thing to do.
Mark my word, win or loose tonight we will upset the Jags. Borttle will come back to earth and we will shock the world.
For some reason, we always give the Jags a game. With a long lead time, I'd like to think Bowles and his CS can come up with a effective game plan on both sides of the ball..
This has more to do but the Browns than the Jets. They keep ALMOST getting a win, both against (potentially) better teams then the Jets. I think they win this one, unfortunately.
The Jags defense is on another level than this browns defense. I love the optimism, but if we do not find a way to give Sam protection in the pocket against the Browns tonight with them missing their second pass rusher we are going to be in for a very long day in Jax, that defense is loaded on all 3 levels. Nothing would make me happier than to see our o-line pick up the complex blitzing scheme and Sam murder them underneath all night, time will see if our big uglies are up to the task.
I think last Year was more about the Jags long trip to London. The Jets have played them tough recently but I still remember Jimmy Smith beating them time after time years ago. It seemed like he saved his big plays for Jets games.
