right on the heels of the Astros winning the World Series.

I guess it was too much success for the city to handle.

Texans lose Watson, Watt, and Mercilus to injury

Watson was headed for possibly one of the greatest rookie QB seasons ever

That sucks he was a lot of fun to watch. Luckily for us we didn’t draft him. You never know how a running qb will come back like rg3

What the actual fuck...this season is quickly being drained of any compelling reasons to watch.

Luck, Rodgers, now Watson. Bummer for the league. He was amazing the last few weeks too. Hope he recovers 100%. Bright future.

I almost traded Brady in fantasy because I had Watson too lol, I was probably hours away from making a blockbuster deal in fantasy but the guy kept dragging his feet and now I'm glad he did :p

It is such odd timing for this to happen in the afterglow of the Astros winning it all.

Wow. That's terrible. He was looking very promising. Poor kid.

He’s not really a running QB, he’s just a mobile QB.

Yikes, I feel bad for Watson. He's been a class act. If the Texans could put football over politics they'd sign Kaepernick rather than concede the division to the Titans or Jaguars. Face it, they have no chance with Savage. But Bob McNair isn't a class act.

Or he’s seen Kaepernick play. That guy is getting a lot of mileage out of his first couple of seasons from his supporters, but his subsequent season’s conveniently get ignored.

Francesca reported that McNair has given the okay for Kaepernick to work out for the Texans.

I'm sure it's not just a PR move...

    Nope. Kap's passer ratings:

    2011: 81.2
    2012: 98.3
    2013: 91.6
    2014: 86.4
    2015: 78.5
    2016: 90.7
    Career: 88.9

    Savage's:

    2014: 51.9
    2016: 80.9
    2017: 66.8
    Career: 73.9

You tell me which QB gives Houston the best chance to win the division.

Sucks for the kid, and the NFL. The Seattle/Texans game last week was a fun game to watch.

Could that owner sign Kapernick? That certainly would shut a lot of people up. I wonder what would happen to Kap's lawsuit then. He'd have to drop it, no?

Actually now that I think about it, I don't really give a shit. What the Texans do.

It's a terrible loss for the Texans and the NFL. Watson was having one of the best if not thee best rookie season at the quarterback position. Hope he comes back strong and can stay healthy.

A QB rating of 90 is an average QB rating. passer rating is a function of multiple statistics, including TD’s, and it doesn’t differentiate meaningless TD’s in garbage time from meaningful TD’s, so it can be artificially inflated.

But he was bottom five in the league in completion percentage; barely better than Ryan Fitzpatrick which is hardly an accomplishment to applaud.

So an average QB rating, inflated by meaningless TD’s, and a bottom five completion percentage, is hardly a QB worthy of the praise he gets.

    Yup.

You're missing the point. I never said Kap's a good QB. But when the Texans' only other option is Savage, Kap's by far the best chance they have of winning the division. Which means they're literally tanking what could be a playoff season because of politics. I don't like Curt Schilling's political views, but if he was still young enough to pitch and I needed a starter because of injuries I'd sign him in a heartbeat.

Tom Savage was the best available option for me on the fantasy wire when Watson went down. Guy was carrying my team. What kind of pussy is done for the season with a lil ass ACL injury?
