The Jets tried to sign him last year, but Denver matched the offer. What the Jets still be interested in him if were available?

Broncos | Team has decision to make with Putzier
    Thu, 23 Feb 2006 06:17:36 -0800

Bill Williamson, of the Denver Post, reports Denver Broncos TE Jeb Putzier is due a $1.5 million roster bonus in early March and a base salary of $1.5 million for the 2006 season. His agent, Joe Linta, said he has not heard whether Denver will exercise the option. The Broncos could attempt to restructure the deal. If no agreement is reached, they could release Putzier. Last season Putzier split time with TE Stephen Alexander. "If Denver does exercise the option, I would hope they'd give him the chance to catch 60, 70 balls and become a Pro Bowl-caliber tight end I know he can be," Linta said. Putzier's contract is likely to be addressed next week.

Unless we release Baker, minimal interest.

Baker is an UFA I believe, so he's gone unless we sign him.

Putzier prolly wants to get away from Plummer...it seems he is always just catching the ball as some one comes up and levels him.

I think he was on "jacked up" 2 or three times last year....

We shouldn't sign Baker. We need a tight end that can block and catch.

Baker is a UFA so he could be an option, but we will not have any blocking and with this O-line I think we need a blocker with stone hands to get by

We have alot of other things we need to spend money on. We should try to develop Dressen.

Agreed. But if the Jets don't sign Baker, it is not a bad option. I like Dreesen, size, hands, blocking, LSer he has alot of upside. But Putzier is young as well. Developing Dreesen and Putzier together might not be the worst thing in the world. Plus Jolley is on the roster, and once he has a decent QB, I think he will produce much better.

Might not be the worst decision to sign Putzier.

Agreed, as long as the price is right.
