What a difference it makes. Bortles, Keenum and Foles are in the playoffs. What would you rather have tons of talent and a subpar coach? Or a talented coach who can get the maximum with what he has?
Of all pro sports, Football is the sport that maximized coaching ability above all. Good coaching would be much better imo. Too bad we have Todd Bowles.

The NFL has been designed for coaches to micromanage every player and play. It's one step short of becoming a video game using real people instead of CGI, so yes, a good coach makes ALL the difference. And we have Todd Bowles. 'Nuff said.
As much as I don't think Todd Bowles is any good, after watching the Steelers and Saints last week, I have to say that if he had an All-Pro QB we probably wouldn't be bitching about him nearly as much as we are.

Giants right where they left off? They left off dysfunctional and pathetic......that's not something to aspire to. Gettleman seems like a decent choice. Has been around, has good experience. Nothing inspiring, but decent. Shurmur was what 9-23 as a HC? Coming off a dreadful championship performance? He's boring as hell, so he'll fit in with the Giants, but I don't see him managing those inflated egos well. He doesn't have the proven track record for that. As much as I don't have faith in our coaches or team, I'd still take our situation over theirs.
Well, couldn't agree more. While not happy I don't envy the Giants. Im of the opinion that Bowles is our weak link, only second to our DC. I think that will become more evident if we have a decent off season and draft. I'm tired of the story that Bowles is doing miracles with no talent. While not nearly enough, he had plenty to work with on defense yet we were far worse there than with an offense that nearly no one gave a chance to win one game.

Considering the fact that Bowles has a defensive background, he really sucks. And we traded away a few good D players and got about nothing in return. Bowles and Mac both should be shown the door. But our ownership is also woefully lacking in football smarts. The Johnson's need to hire a real football mind to run this ship or we keep on floundering.
This. Football and basketball are all about coaching. Baseball and to a lesser degree, hockey are talent sports.
