Really really disappointing. He was suppose to be the best player in the draft. WTH happened. Not gonna knock Mac for drafting him...we all thought it was the best move at #6 with people saying he was a generational talent and we stole him.
Good point..ideally it should be that But if I had to choose, I would rather err on the part overdeveloping your offense than continue to believe the Defense Wins Championship crap under Bowles look at the Rams, I am sure Sean Mcvay can sleep at night knowing 75% per cent of the Defensive plan/players is covered very well by old Wade Phillips
To err on any side is to make an error; errors lose games and kill seasons. A restaurant manager can't simply ignore his kitchen because his servers need coaching; delegating is fine but the guy in charge is the guy in charge. The good manager of any enterprise has to know what everyone is doing; he's going to be giving some people a lot freer rein than others based on what he knows of their abilities and weaknesses. The buck stops with the guy in charge - every flaw is his. That's why coaches get to pick their own assistants. This is why the constant run of coaches without head coaching experience has proven so unsuccessful; it's the administration part of the job at which they fail. They fail at bringing the right people onto their staff, they fail to adequately oversee the operation and they fail to make the changes needed to correct their own errors. Great coordinators are out there, as are capable position coaches. The right guy has a hat for every job he needs to do and he knows which one to put on and which one to take off every minute of the day. How can any professional organization expect to bring in a new guy to run an enterprise who has no experience or training in the largest part of the business? How can the Jets be interviewing candidates who have never run a team?
You have to understand by now that people will take anything to perpetuate their beliefs. LOOK HE'S A BUST YOU SEE!!! That's how I read it...lol
I would definitely give him a year with a new coach and new pieces on the line. I'm not ready to watch him be a stud somewhere else, he's still really young.
Williams is nothing like that lazy, me, me, me first non team player. Worst choice ever was to extend him with a mega contract. I'll give him one more year under a real coach.
I'm not against the idea of trading him because I do think the rate of possible return outweighs his contributions. Anytime that happens, a trade is ideal. However, we don't even have a coach yet. They should see what the new HC thinks about Williams and his role before getting into serious trade talks
And they will. Nothing about te article states what the team is doing. Just what cimini thinks they may possibly consider could be an option at some point before 2020.
One of my favorite lines from a Nelson DeMille book when someone asked the wise ass main character to do something he wasn’t keen on: “I give you my firm assurance that I might possibly consider thinking about it.”
They aren't cutting him. I know he draws a lot of hate from fans for not being a sack machine while having to do all the dirty work in the trenches on a weak dline. People just pretend like the guy has no value, it's unreal. If you take him off the line it will be a HUGE loss.
Leonhard Williams isnt playing like you would expect a number 6 overall pick to play.We need a guy like JJ Watt who can change the outcome of a game.Williams is a typical Jets defensive linemen whos good at stopping the run.
This guy is a bust anyone that thinks different is kidding themselves. When he was drafted everyone acted like he was friggin gastineau
