Yes, he's Fitzpatrick's clone named Mini-patrick. I'm not big on the mentoring thing, but if he's being considered as a veteran backup to help the young guys, I would prefer Fitzpatrick. Daniel has hardly played in his seven year career. At least Fitzpatrick has much more experience as a starter and backup.
Yeah, another draft like the last two and regime change will be the only workable option. The Jets really need to kill this draft and the best way to do that is to trade down a couple of times and make 9+ picks.
Say what you want but Cutler could win us 6 + games, don't kid yourself. I'll take Daniel's and the 1st pick in the 2018 NFL Draft .
I was thinking more like answering the door butt naked with a ham sandwich and a coke but... to each his own.
we gain nothing with Daniels - pick a late round qb in this upcoming draft and go with the young'uns. Need to see what we got.
They have us linked to Cutler...now something just came out linking us to McCown. All i'm saying is I want no part of a guy that's going to get me to 7-9...Daniel's is my choice to get us a shot @ the #1 in 2018.
Chase Daniel was an understudy of Brees, wonder if Morton would have some familiarity with him. He got rave reviews for his helping of Wentz last year in Philly supposedly.
since we're in a rebuild, I honestly would far prefer a guy like Chase Daniel (ideally AJ McCarron). I don't want an aging vet who will win us a few games and screw our draft position, only to retire by the time the team is ready. Get me a QB with some unknown to him. Maybe he turns into something, maybe not. Both are acceptable given the approach the Jets are taking right now. In fact, the ONLY QB out there that would wholly piss me off if we sign him, would be Jay Cutler.
this. or even better, chase Daniel shows he is a pretty good QB and we see enough to proceed with him.
I am all for signing Daniel's. He is a veteran, a solid backup, has experience with Morton and has some upside as a starter. Petty is still a question mark if he will ever fully develop into being a serviceable backup QB. Hack might have more upside than either Petty or Daniel's but his floor is very low and one has to wonder if he will be ready to play this year or ever for that matter. I would love to sign Daniel's and draft a late round QB to compete with Petty for a roster spot but realistically we probably need to sign Daniel's and another veteran QB like McNown or even Geno so we have a viable backup QB. I understand the idea of tanking the season and going with Petty and Hack to compete for the top pick. Certainly, this Browns type strategy, has long run potential but I have a hard time giving up on the season before it even begins.
How can a guy with 78 career pass attempts in 7 seasons be considered a guy with potential as a starter?
Or that Hack wins the starting gig and we proceed with him. Only Jets fans would write off a second round pick without ever seeing him play in an NFL game.
I agree that this fanbase is mostly the shits, but usually second round picks are at least good in college.
Until i read this post i was 100% against signing Jay Cutler. After reading this post Joe Namath immediately came to mind. Could it possibly be Jay is Joe 2.0? Geez being a Jets fan is a rough road........
because to be a starter all you have to do is be better at your position than others on a single team's roster and he fits that criteria here with our Jets
Sorry, he used the word "upside". Can you or anyone find upside in a guy with 78 career pass attempts in 7 years?
