I got to believe that if Martin was not going to be cut, the trade would not have happened. Why a back up long snapper? well we don't know what is going on there with Purdum, he might be struggling physically.
Actually, Macc is simply ahead of his time. He's planning on fielding a defense comprised entirely of Safeties. "Having all Safeties means we can mix and match and have the most flexibility in our schemes". Don't laugh. True genius is always ridiculed before it's validated.

yes we are admittedly manic/bipolar but its beginning to appear that the fans have more mental capacity than the clowns running this show for the majority of the past 45 years.
if you can find the source, please post it. I thought I had read everything on TC, and have seen not one comment about Purdum struggling. He has been rock solid consistent for how many years? I find it hard to believe that he could just suddenly fall apart and start making bad snaps unless he's injured.
So, we have more than enough safeties and were going to cut this one. No one would have bitched about that. But instead of cutting him, we trade him for another guy to see if he's possibly better than an incumbent on the team who is struggling and that's a bad move? Wtf are people smoking today?
Cimini just tweeted about it today and I've seen it written in the past by others. I'll look tomorrow, can't be worrying about long snappers while relaxing on the couch.
When was the last time you heard a bad play or snap from the long snapper? That would be never the guy has been the best thing the Jets have had for years. With all the other holes in the roster going out and trading for a long snapper is beyond ridiculous.
He traded a guy that wasn't making the team. If he has just cut Martin would you be bitching? Well yes, you probably would, but that doesn't mean it's smart.
is the committee that helped Woody hire this clown still intact? Or was that just a pilot program by NFL to see how long they can keep a bunch of old men occupied instead of telling them to retire and move on?
How is this so hard to understand? They identified somebody they wanted and didn't want to take the chance that one of the other 31 teams will also want to take a look at a long snapper. Your perspective is still pretty terrible on this. If they cut Ronald Martin and then one week later signed a long snapper would you be bitching and moaning that they signed a long snapper?
one of those guys actually plays the game of football though and the other just flings a football behind his ass
