Osweiler stinks. They were facing a backup qb. No game changing plays made by the defense plays Miami's defense made against the Jets.
The defense allowed one field goal drive. The other 10 points were off turnovers. You can't expect the defense to score more points than they allow.
It really feels the Kotite jets of the mid 90s. I really EXPECT the jets are going to lose before the game starts. If the jets keep Bowles for another year, how can they expect any decent free agents to want to join this debacle?
I understand the analogy. You might be harder on your kid to make sure you're not accused of favoritism. However, it makes no sense to "blame" the defense after today's game.
Your standards are very low. Brock Osweiler is a terrible QB a backup QB. In this game with our rookie QB struggling the Jets needed the defense to force some turnovers out of Osweiler score themselves or set up a easy score for the O to win this game. They weren't good enough. Shutting down a Osweiler led offense is no big deal.
And it was the same last year. Wesley Johnson was the worst center in the NFL all year--Bowles would never sit him either barring injury. TODD BOWLES IS INCOMPETENT AS A COACH. MIKE MACCAGNAN IS JUST AS BAD AS A GM. Look at that idiot draft of 2017--FOUR defensive backs and 3 receivers in the same draft????? No wonder the jets swiss cheese offensive line made the mediocore dolphins look like all pros today.
My standards are low? Holding Miami (yes, even with Osweiler) to a field goal isn't good enough for you? How about some standards for the offense?
Put down the whiskey, dude. The Jets needed plays on offense more than anything else. The defense forces a few turnovers, the Jets would have given the ball right back anyways. You gotta score more than 6 total points in a game. The Jets D could have pitched a shut out and still lost this game because the Jets offense gave up more points than the friggin defense. You gotta live in complete fantasy land to think the defense is to blame.
The defense shouldn't shoulder any of the blame in this one. This one is entirely on the offense and the coaching staff. The defense pitching a shutout would have still resulted in a loss. When that happens, it's on the other two facets of the game that aren't getting their work done.
Defense gave up two field goals. Bowles calling for turnovers is ridiculous. Sure would've been nice but that's not an every game thing. We don't have playmakers on defense. Today was all offense. It was some awful growing pains by Darnold but I guess we'll have to live with it. Next year he'll have a whole new staff
Miami's defense was better against our starting QB than our defense against a bad backup QB. Clear enough for you? Osweiler did exactly what Miami needed from him to win THIS game he managed the game and didn't turn the ball over. And I'm not saying the Jets offense doesn't deserve blame they were brutal again today. Did you see the SNF game? 17-17 tie Rodgers marching tthe Packers downfield, Brady 0 for 7 on his last seven pass attempts so what happened next? NE's defense FORCED a fumble out of Green Bay's RB a turnover the Patriots NEEDED. Completely changed the game it was ALL NE after that. Sometimes that's how football works. Jets defense did nothing special yesterday.
All those first round picks, high picks on that defense and they couldn't force a single turnover out of Brock Osweiler.
Miami's defense was better against our starting QB than our defense was against a bad backup because our offense was uniquely terrible. Sure, our defense could have done better. But you're criticizing our defense for a B+ performance when our offense turned in an F.
B+ against Osweiler wasn't good enough. They needed to play a A+ game which is exactly what Miami's defense played against our QB. The Jets defensive performance in this game can be summed up in three words. Not good enough.
The offense gave up 10 points today. If you can't win a game with your defense only being responsible for 3 points , your offense is complete shit and deserves to be dumped on with reckless abandon. This offense is so bad that it will end up losing plenty of games for you. Can't wait for the draft where all our hopes will be elevated, only to be dashed a few months later when the season begins and reality sets in once again.
Jets D does not have anyone elite. If they have any, I haven't seen one on the field. Where is the [ferocious] pass rush? That this D kept the game close enough for 3 quarters in the past two games without any blue-chip marquee player is more than enough of an evidence that the defense is playing their hearts out. This offense is a fucking disgrace. Jeremy Bates is a fucking fraud. So is that moron Rick Dennison. Ah. That's right. Maybe Jets OL is made of tub of lards, but Rick Dennison is coaching them - and he is doing a fucking HORRIBLE job at it. [Just in case you forgot: Rick Dennison is the OL COACH and RUNNING GAME COORDINATOR all rolled into one. He fucking sucks. So does Jeremy Bates. Now I remember what kind of horrible hot garbage this offensive coaching staff was like before the season.]
If the Jets don't get a couple of superstar WRs to stretch the opposing defenses, they will continue to suck.
I'm at a loss for words at this point... it's time to cut the cord on this entire coaching staff before Sam regresses anymore. Is it me or does it look like Robbie & Kearse both checked out... these guys look like they have no interest in being on the field. ...
I see both points here and I lean towards a pass for D Look at the article grading Jets in NY Post ...they are objective and gave those D guys grade A minus The CS and Offense a "D"/F OTH you are RIGHT ...with all the $$ put into the stupid D side of the ball maybe they win more games for us...but that was a very POOR management decision on Bowles/MM Sadly..in today's league the Offense has a big edge
