I’m taking the family back to NY in a few weeks on Southwest and if my flights (737-700’s and 800’s) got switched to the Max I wouldn’t get on the plane. If the black box on the Ethiopia crash confirms the same failure as the crash six months ago I don’t see how the plane can be allowed to fly.

Is the FAA under pressure not to ground the planes? Asking for a friend

Capitalism always errs on the side of profit.

Grounded in the US now too. Boeing stock price had dropped 14% from Friday by 2:50 PM today, but it recovered a bit in the last hour of trading.

Take a look at the accident rate of State run Aviation. Apparently a few comrades were sacrificed without the profit motive.
Don't confuse the Government role as an independent regulator and capitalism. Strong regulatory oversight is great for private companies that rely on public confidence.

We have been trending away from professional independent government regulation toward self regulation for years. Killing your customers isn't good business. Boeing operates as a predatory monopoly and has spread an incredible amount of money throughout our government to reduce oversight and buy government contracts. It's biting them in the ass right now.
