Justin Blaylock ran the 4th fasted 40 time of any OL, 5.10. He also mauled in the drills. Ben Grubbs also ran a fast 40, and seemed to pretty well in most of the drills.
it is also possible that the Giants take him at 20. if things dont go through with O'Hara it is very possible that we take him. we take Blaylock at 20 to play LG, move Diehl from LG to LT and move Rich Seubert from back-up LG to starting C
Good point, but the last few years they have needed linebackers badly and signing a guy like Arrington was just a waste.
You are right about that. Arrington was cut and Brandon Short is a free agent. Not sure how good their remaining guys are but they need some bodies.
Figures.. that's the part about following the draft that blows, each time you like a pick for the Jets he moves by you... Last year it was Mario. This year being it's pick 25 makes it tougher but... Okoye, Carricker and now Blaylock.... That also means players will fall.... Overall seems like a Great draft for OL and DL help and at the 1st 3 Jet picks!!!!! I'd like to see all 3 picks on the lines.... or Turner. plus 2 Linemen.
Honestly the 40 yard dash for lineman is the STUPIDEST DRILL. Name me one time when an lineman ran 40 yards downfield and made a key block...it doesn't happen. The NFL should make the first 10 the only thing that matters for O Lineman.
although it was preseason, that D'brick play was one of the more memorable of this season, I don't know how you forgot it. I have a feeling, in 10 years, someone will post that in the thread where they show a picture and you have to name the players and moment/game
You can ignore the 40 yard dash if you want to. Some GM's only clock lineman on the first ten yards, and even skill positions on the first ten yards. 40 times are the only official ones usually though, atleast the only ones that are released as official.
I meant to say, it occurs so rarely it is a stupid statistic....1 play out of of 21 games....almost meaningless.
It's just one small piece of the puzzle.... NOT a big deal - NFL teams look at tape and games played as 80% of the package - Running though shows what kind of shape players are in, how they move and how fluid they are... Maybe a guy is rehabbing and it's good to see where he is now? Sometimes when you have two OT's ranked perfectly even and one guy runs a 5.9 and the other a 4.9 it makes a difference.... NO ONE is looking at a 40 time and just picking one guy over the other just based on a drill. It's a GREAT drill and again, just a small thing - maybe FANS shouldn't get all wound up over it and just watch what they want?
