More ammo to can Bowles. O'Brien at least got his team to a playoff game. Bringing back Bowels will be hard to justify.
I’d take Bill obrien in a heartbeat.Fir no other reason than he’ll actually care about the QB position & the offense!
Lol I don't care if Bowles gets fired. But if he does Mac needs to go with him. We can't go back to the fire the coach keep the GM, fire the GM keep the coach game.
While I don’t expect nor am calling for Bowles being fired. We can easily hire a coach give him 3 years with Mac than clean house again. Not that I think mac should get 3 more years either but it would keep the time lines in synch.
Considering he's not bringing Watson with him, though, I'd rather not see O'Brien in NY. Tremendously overrated and hasn't shown much ability to develop a QB thus far.
He did, but I can't give O'Brien credit for Watson's "development". He came out of nowhere (in as much as a national championship QB and 1st round pick can) on O'Brien, who didn't even deem him worthy to start the opening game over a guy like Tom Savage. The Watson pick shows that O'Brien and/or his GM, whoever has the most input in making the draft decisions, were only able to see what should have been blatantly obvious to a team like the Jets, that Watson was a special player. Looking at the rest of O'Brien's track record at QB with the guys he was tasked to develop, it leaves quite a bit to be desired. Like I said, if he's bringing Watson with him, then sure. If not, no thanks.
If I had to hold my nose I would keep Macc around longer than Bowles. It seems like macc has given Bowels his wish list when it comes to the draft and Bowels hasn't delivered. But no way does Macc get a 3 year contract.
I think O'Brien does and hopefully Bowles when he hits the streets too. Nobody wants another year of Bowles and Rodgers waiting to look at the tape.
If we're going to err on the side of keeping one of them too long, I'd rather keep Bowles for 1 more year than Mac for 3 more years.
