It's The Walking Dead, not Edward Scissorhands.

It was no Zombieland but it was pretty good.

Too bad Steve Buscemi is in Boardwalk Empire, that dude look like a zombie. He could play a lead role in this show. I think he is a quart low of formaldehyde.

I was watching Fargo a few days ago and I was laughing my ass off when Buscemi's character constantly gets described as the "funny looking" guy. ...under statement of the century.

Lennie James stole the show in the pilot episode. The scene with the sniper rifle and the picture of his wife was excellent.

I love that they slow-played the premier. So much anticipation for next week...

    Hahahahah true......

I should qualify, I absolutely hate Zombie movies. I like this though. It seems like it has so much potential.

I mentioned Zombieland because as everyone knows I am not serious and that movie was the very definition of that. I thought that is how you have to treat zombies. I look to be wrong.

Looks like AMC is doing it again. Breaking Bad, Rubicon and now this show. ...... By all accounts Mad Men is excellent too. I just never got into that show. Thank god for AMC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The episode was awesome. A zombie series has so much potential and they seem to be off to a good start.

    It seemed ok.

But was there anything new? The opening with the protagonist waking up from a coma in a hospital finding the world as he knew it changed drastically into a hellish nightmare, seems pretty business as usual.

28 Days later started production in 2002 and was released Summer 2003. The Walking Dead Comic books started print in 2003...seems like someone was ripped off.

I agree. That was a powerful performance -- and it really lends credence to the spread of the infection with the difficulty to "put down" loved ones.

I'm glad he's such a strong actor, as his character is expanded (in the comics).

Needless to say, I'm ridiculously pumped for this show.

Throughly enjoyed the 1st Episode last night...awesome.

I like the how the Producer/Director is developing the characters (only 3, so far) and their emotions dealing with this crisis.

I was amazed how graphic the zombies were portrayed...awesome makeup.

So much is usually put into the 1st episode, let's hope it continues, I'm certain it will. Too often I love the first couple of shows of a new series and than it falls flat.

The first issue of "The Walking Dead" was released about the same time "28 Days Later" was released in the states. The author was already working on the second issue when the movie came out. This is a quote from Robert Kirkman:

In fact, the writer of 28 Days later specifically said he stole the intro to 28 Days from Invasion of the Triffids which came out in 1962.

In any case, loved the first episode. How they shot the iconic scene of the sheriff riding his horse down an empty highway into Atlanta was fantastic. Looking forward to next week.

    Cool. Cool.

Thanks for the clarification...was just speculating with no factual reinforcement.
