The Bills don't need one QB. Allen will be that black lion in their Voltron giant robot of subpar QBs. They can have Tyrod and EJ Manuel as the arms, and JP Losman and Trent Edwards as the legs. Of course, a human sized Jim Kelly will man the controls of Billztron, with his trusty cartoon monkey sidekick Tablecrash to give comic relief.
I think this was the best possible outcome after trading up for #3. We simply had to take a QB after trading that much to move up 3 spots, and Darnold was the most complete package. He has great size, great instincts, and he moves very well for a guy his size. If they can teach him to protect the ball a little better he has a chance to be very good. We don't have a great track record with teaching young qbs to get better, but hopefully Mccown (and perhaps Bridgewater to some degree) can mold Darnold into the franchise QB we have needed for many years.
I like Darnold as a prospect and the organization did what it had to do but let’s not get ahead of ourselves. We have no idea how good or bad Allen is going to be in the pros, and the gloating about how bad of a pick he was is very premature. Also Tremaine Edmunds has as high of a ceiling as anybody in this class and they got him at 16. I don’t know why everyone seems so happy that Miami got one of the best defensive players in the draft and IMO the best DB at pick 11. NE picked up a stud OL and very good RB. I’m very high on Isaiah Wynn. Michel wouldn’t have been my pick but he’s definitely talented and we know what Brady can do with explosive pass-catching RB’s. Not trying to be a downer and I’m excited what the future holds let’s pump the brakes here a little. In my estimation the AFC East had a pretty solid draft with Buffalo’s being very boom or bust.
Honestly when this happened I was wondering what we were missing on Darnold. Then I remembered it was just the Browns (who later passed on Chubb for a local boy) and a 67-year old win-now GM that passed on him.
Amazing how the suck for Sam plan hatched last off season actually worked. At 3 and 2 i thought we had blown out chance at a top QB.
What I want to know is: will Josh Allen display as much accuracy as Christian Hackenberg did when throwing passes at reporters on the sidelines?
What you missed was a record setting season of turnovers, not what you want from the supposed #1 one pick, which is why he was not. That said the Jets did the logical thing considering their needs, it now becomes a 50-50 chance which is pretty much what it was always going to be no matter where the pick was made.
Got those for my 6 month old ... ready to be all geared up week one ! lets hope he has a better life as a fan than I have so far so ... we're both all in on Darnold !
19, and he sure as hell didn't fumble the ball 12 times. Like I said, no matter what the stats are, good or bad it all comes down to a simple percentage of 50-50.
Well you clearly don't understand the gravity of them. Sam Darnold threw 13 INTs and Fumbled 12 times. Let me say that again, FUMBLED 12 TIMES!!! How many times did Ryan Fumble?
Darnold's fumbling issues last year came down to him not protecting the ball with both hands. Easy fix. Not a concern. Next.
Was with two Bills fans when the pick was made. They horribly tried to justify the pick with a look on their face that can only be described as a cocktail of confusion and disappointment. I was told repeatedly to stop grinning like an asshole.
