The Jets had a 5-6 record and began their final five game playoff push versus the Carolina Panthers at home. That season the Jets and the Ravens both finished 9-7 and squeaked into the playoffs as the respective 5 and 6 seeds. If the Jets could run the ball more effectively with Forte, Powell, and McGuire, they could take pressure off of McCown, who's having a decent season thus far with a quarterback rating of 93.7. In 2009 the Jets had Sanchez with a quarterback rating of 63, and won despite his mediocre play due to the run game and run defense being the best in the league. On defense the 2017 Jets need to continue to play strong along the defensive line like they have the past two weeks, and hope the secondary can step up their play. These Jets have a chance to get some momentum going against the Panthers this weekend, and make a playoff push just like 8 years ago. The AFC is that bad. Just trying to channel my inner RobA! Go Jets! Let’s start that playoff push!
Yep, a healthy Forte is a big piece to the Jets success. All three backs need to contribute though because Forte is no spring chicken. Lol....Also the Jets backs gotta catch some passes too...hot reads for Josh when he's under pressure!!!!
I don't think the Jets will make the playoffs. However, being in the playoff picture in December, during a so-called TANK season, is a pretty impressive feat by the Jets. I think they can pull off going (2-4) down the stretch for a solid (6-10) record.
We have gotten a lot from the young players but the two guys doing most of the work on offense are not part of the rebuild (McNown and Forte).
Sorry, but 4-6 in todays NFL is not impressive and 6-10 is abysmal. I think we're headed for 5-11 though. If you can't tank and get a high pick and end up 5-11 or 6-10 then expect more mediocrity. Winning an extra game or two from here on out could cost us a lot of success down the road. Still find no reason to play a 38 year old QB that has no future with us and hasn't won anywhere. We're going nowhere fast without a franchise QB.
