Time to take a look at QBs that may be available for 2018 as it's out biggest need

    Free agency

    "The Minnesota Trio"
Bradford, bridgewater, and keenum have all performed well. and all 3 will be free agents after this season. It's obvious they will keep 1 maybe even 2, but they can't keep all 3. All 3 have been starters at one point and would likely want to at least compete for a starting job. Keenum is currently 29 and leading them into the playoffs as i type this. Bridgewater is still young at 25 and a former 1st round pick, but coming off a big injury and does Minn feel good enough to keep him and let keenum walk? Bradford is likely to be the odd man out no matter what He's the oldest at 30 years old, but also the most consistent and proven. in 17 games with Minn over the past 2 seasons he's thrown 23 TDs to 5INTs 4000+ yards and over 70% completions with a 100+ QBR. and 30 in QBs years is young and they gave up a lot to get him. Still anyway you look at it, 1 or 2 of these QBs will not be in minnesota in 2018

    Drew Brees
0% chance the saints let him walk so likely not an option and at his age he would want to go to a team that's ready to compete so the jets may not be on his radar. Still i think best bet is he stays in NO or maybe retires. If he was to leave i could see denver being most likely

    Kirk Cousins
It's likely washington will tag him again and lok to trade him for compensation if they can't agree to a deal which is every offseason for them. This would be ideal for us. he's 29 but has proven himself over the last 3 years as a top 10 QB and stays healthy. he would eat up a ton of cap space but would be worth every penny. Washington could move him for a discount to free cap and knowing he won't sign a deal with them so might not cost the farm. Personally i'm all for giving up whatever it takes to land him as he would be our FQB for at least the next 5 years if not closer to 10

    Jay Cutler
his 1 year deal is up with Miami, tannehill will return as the starter. he said he wants to play another year if he can start. Personally I think he's a bad QB especially at this point in his career however he could help a team like denver. I don't want him as a jet but could see him signing late again if another teams QB goes down in pre-season

    Josh McCown
clearly not anyones future at 38 years old, still he played great for us and morton wants him back. Not a bad option for us if we draft a QB but want them to sit a year. Could also go to a win now team. I think he'll get some attention after his play this season

    Jimmy Garrappolo
played great for SF this year. came in a midseason trade with NE and made the most of it. going 5-0 with the niners after they started 1-10 without him helping us land a better pick in the draft. Still i see a 0% chance SF doesn't resign him. if they do manage to fuck it up though, he'd be worth a look for us

    Releases
    Tyrod Taylor
for some reason the bills hate him even though he led them to the playoffs this year going 9-6 (they benched him for 1 game that they lost when their QB threw 5 INTs in the 1st half) he's not a traditional QB but he's got a big arm and is mobile and can help an offense make big plays. he also doens't turn it over much. If the bills release him, he's worth looking at

    Alex Smith
Mahomes looked good in his 1st game. the chiefs are hurting for cap room and smith has been a career game manager. still he's been a dam good one. They will look to move on to mahomes who they drafted 10th overall (and before watson) and likely let smith walk. he'll be an attractive candidate for a win now team

    Mike Glennon
He got a huge deal from chicago, but they moved on to their 2nd overall pick in trubisky. I can't see them paying him all that money to hold a clipboard. Still he hasn't proven anything to earn it and i wouldn't place my bets on him

    Draft Top Prospects
This is one of the best drafts for a QB to date. I'm going to just copy and paste here

    Josh Rosen*, QB, UCLA
    Height: 6-4. Weight: 210.

    • Projected 40 Time: 4.75.
      Projected Round (2018): 1.

12/28/17: Of the top quarterback prospects for the 2018 NFL Draft, Rosen has the best mechanics and is the most natural pocket passer. He throws a tremendous ball and can really spin it. Rosen's tight spiral helps him to get his passes through tight windows and beat good coverage. He has serious arm talent along with field vision and pocket presence. Rosen also works under center, which has been rare to see with college quarterbacks in recent years. Teams also have some concerns about his intangibles and durability.

    • Sam Darnold**, QB, USC
      Height: 6-4. Weight: 225.
      Projected 40 Time: 4.78.
      Projected Round (2018): 1.

12/28/17: In 2017, Darnold has completed 64 percent of his passes for 3,787 yards with 26 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. He has had an up-and-down season with too many turnovers - fumbles are a particular issue beyond the interceptions. Darnold also makes some beautiful anticipatory throws with excellent accuracy in just about every game. There continue to be rumors that Darnold will return to school next year.

    • Josh Allen*, QB, Wyoming
      Height: 6-5. Weight: 222.
      Projected 40 Time: 4.75.
      Projected Round (2018): 1.

12/28/17: In 2017, Allen completed 56 percent of his passes for 1,812 yards with 16 touchdowns and six interceptions. He notched five rushing touchdowns as well. Allen missed Wyoming's last two regular-season games with a shoulder injury. WalterFootball.com was first to report that Allen would enter the 2018 NFL Draft, and he announced his intent to declare after Wyoming's bowl game.

    • Lamar Jackson*, QB, Louisville
      Height: 6-3. Weight: 205.
      Projected 40 Time: 4.57.
      Projected Round (2018): 1-2.

12/28/17: Jackson has an amazing skill set with a powerful arm that allows him to make throws off platform that many NFL quarterbacks couldn't even dream of making. He is tough in the pocket, knows his scheme well, and has amazing athleticism and speed as a runner. Jackson looks like a taller and right-handed version of Michael Vick. Some team sources feel that Jackson is being undervalued similarly to Deshaun Watson a year ago.

In speaking with a general manager who has scouted Jackson this season, they said, "[The Cardinals] depend on him too much, and he's trying to do it all. I think he has a learning curve. He will need the right system and right coach, but he's super-talented. [Jackson] suffers with accuracy issues."

    • Baker Mayfield, QB, Oklahoma
      Height: 6-2. Weight: 214.
      Projected 40 Time: 4.71.
      Projected Round (2018): 1-2.

12/28/17: Mayfield has completed 71 percent of his passes this season for 4,340 yards with 41 touchdowns and five interceptions. He also has five rushing touchdowns. Mayfield led Oklahoma to an impressive road win at Ohio State, lost a shootout at home to Iowa State, and led the Sooners to an epic win over Oklahoma State, in which Mayfield threw for 598 yards on the Cowboys. Mayfield has accepted an invitation to play at the Senior Bowl, which was a smart move as he is very likely to help himself by participating in Mobile.

Some in the media have said they think Mayfield will be a first-round pick in the 2018 NFL Draft. I reached out to some team sources, and they said that could be possible given the way quarterbacks rise. Mayfield is undersized for the NFL with just average arm strength, however. He can have issues reading defenses, too. One big area of improvement for Mayfield is his footwork as he gets happy feet in the pocket. One college scouting director told me that Mayfield's feet are terrible. In speaking to multiple teams, they had second-day grades on Mayfield, but that doesn't mean he won't go in the first round of the 2018 NFL Draft.

Late round QBs (copy and paste)

    • Drew Lock, QB, Missouri
      Height: 6-4. Weight: 225.
      Projected 40 Time: 4.79.
      Projected Round (2018): 1-3.

12/28/17: Sources say Lock is considering entering the 2018 NFL Draft. Lock set the SEC single-season record for touchdown passes in 2017 with 43. He went on a tear in the last half of the year to lead Missouri to six straight wins after a 1-5 start. Lock has completed 58 percent of his passes this year for 3,964 yards with 44 touchdowns and 13 interceptions.

Lock is a gunslinger-style quarterback who has a big arm with the ability to throw any pass. However, he needs to improve his accuracy, field vision, and the speed at which he works through progressions. Lock can be prone to overthrows, plus can put too much heat on some passes. Lock has good size and can fit the pass into tight windows. He throws the ball well downfield and shows some timing and anticipation. Lock does have the propensity to force throws to covered wideouts as he can trust his arm too much to beat tight coverage. He also has some mobility. Lock could stand to make improvements before going to the NFL, and improving as a senior might be his best route toward having a good pro career and going higher in his draft.

    Luke Falk, QB, Washington State
    • Height: 6-4. Weight: 205.
      Projected 40 Time: 4.79.
      Projected Round (2018): 3-4.

12/28/17: Falk has completed 67 percent of his passes this season for 3,593 yards with 30 touchdowns and 13 interceptions. Some team sources are intrigued with Falk as they like his pocket-passing potential and accuracy.

In speaking with scouts, they say that Falk has an above-average arm. While his accuracy is his best strength, he does have issues seeing coverage and will throw into it. The same sources also label Falk as a thin-framed player who will need to add weight for the NFL. Additionally, Falk lacks escapability and mobility, but sources compared him to Redskins quarterback Kirk Cousins.

7/17/17: In 2016, Falk completed 70 percent of his passes for 4,468 yards with 38 touchdowns and 11 interceptions. He has a quality arm to hurt teams from the pocket, but his numbers are inflated by a college spread offense.

Falk also needs to work on moving his eyes and working through progressions rather than locking on to one receiver or one side of the field. Falk always operates out of the shotgun, so he will need to learn how to work under center and understand the associated footwork with taking three- and five-step drops. Falk will have to learn to call plays in the huddle, too. There are a number of quick throws and bubble screens that the Cougars run that won't translate to the NFL as well.

There were some media reports that Falk would enter the 2017 NFL Draft. He said those reports were false and eventually decided to return for his senior year. In 2015, Falk completed 69 percent of his passes for 4,561 yards with 38 touchdowns and eight interceptions. As a freshman, he completed 64 percent of his throw for 1,859 yards with 13 touchdowns and seven interceptions. Falk should continue to put together big stat lines playing in Mike Leach's offense.

    • Mason Rudolph, QB, Oklahoma State
      Height: 6-5. Weight: 235.
      Projected 40 Time: 4.85.
      Projected Round (2018): 3-4.

12/28/17: Rudolph is a love/hate prospect in the scouting community. One team source likes Rudolph, but many others are skeptics. A general manager of a playoff team told me they had Rudolph graded on the third day of the 2018 NFL Draft. Another NFC general manager said they thought Rudolph could go on Day 2. An AFC college scouting director of a playoff team said they were giving Rudolph a fifth-round grade. One area scout said that they were really concerned with how Rudolph struggles throwing into tight windows, because he won't have receivers running wide open like they have been for him at Oklahoma State. Given the big discrepancy, Rudolph could go in the early rounds of the 2018 NFL Draft, because it only takes one team to fall in love. Many teams don't like him, however, and have his grade low.

Rudolph will need development as a pro. He will have to work on his shaky accuracy and field vision, plus get used to playing under center and calling plays in the huddle. Rudolph is also not very athletic, though he has good size with average arm strength. Going through progressions and reading the field are problems for Rudolph, and he has to improve there for the NFL. His anticipation is terrible, too, and that will have to improve for the pros, or he could be taking a lot of sacks from holding onto the ball too long.

Rudolph didn't have his typical performance when TCU dropped Oklahoma State. He completed 22-of-41 for 398 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions against the Horned Frogs. Previously this season, Rudolph lit up Tulsa, South Alabama and Pittsburgh. Rudolph didn't play well against Texas and had a plethora of interceptions dropped versus West Virginia.

Rudolph has completed 65 percent of his passes this season for 4,553 yards with 35 touchdowns and nine interceptions.

7/17/17: Rudolph completed 63 percent of his passes for 4,91 yards with 28 touchdowns and four interceptions in 2016. He ran for six scores as well. Rudolph (6-5, 235) has good size, but he needs work on his field vision and transitioning to a pro offense.

Rudolph has nice size with an arm to deliver the ball downfield. He throws nice touch passes and locates passes well. However, Rudolph is going to need a lot of work on his field vision for the NFL. He rarely works beyond his primary read and constantly stares down his first option. In terms of his longer-term development, Rudolph was wise to return for his senior season. He should focus on improving his field vision to work through progressions before going pro. Along with improving his footwork, working on being under center, and learning how to call NFL plays.

    • Jarrett Stidham**, QB, Auburn
      Height: 6-3. Weight: 210.
      Projected 40 Time: 4.72.
      Projected Round (2018): 3-5.

12/28/17: Stidham has completed 67 percent of his passes in 2017 for 2,827 yards with 17 touchdowns and four interceptions. He struggled to move the ball against Clemson, but Auburn's offensive line was completely overmatched, allowing double-digit sacks in the game. Stidham has improved since then and is throwing more accurately while showing more comfort in the pocket. Stidham came through with some efficient games to knock off both undefeated Georgia and Alabama. He has made real strides during the 2017 season.

7/17/17: As a freshman at Baylor, Stidham flashed by completing 69 percent of his passes for 1,265 yards with 12 touchdowns and two interceptions. His freshman season was ended early because of injury, but he flashed serious ability with arm strength, athleticism and accuracy. After the scandal that claimed the job of Art Briles, Stidham eventually landed at Auburn after attending community college for a year. Team sources have said that Stidham has a lot of ability and they are eager to see him this season.

    • Riley Ferguson, QB, Memphis
      Height: 6-4. Weight: 210.
      Projected 40 Time: 4.83.
      Projected Round (2018): 3-5.

12/28/17: In 2017, Ferguson has completed 63 percent of his passes for 3,971 yards with 36 touchdowns and nine interceptions. He connected on 23-of-38 passes for 398 yards with six touchdowns and an interception to lead Memphis to a high-scoring, three-point win over UCLA. Memphis' game against Central Florida in Week 2 was canceled. Sources say that Ferguson is skinny and needs to fill out his frame for the NFL, but he has some arm talent.

7/17/17: In 2016, Ferguson completed 63 percent of his passes for 3,698 yards with 32 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. He was in his first year as a starter after replacing Paxton Lynch.

Ferguson needs to improve his field vision for the NFL. He consistently locks onto his primary read and stares him down. When Ferguson rolls out of the pocket, his field vision improves and he looks beyond his first read. It isn't surprising that Ferguson needs more development considering his limited playing experience, and he was wise to return for his senior year to develop his pocket passing before going pro.

Who is on the lookout for a QB? well besides us obviously lets look at the competition of teams that may be looking at a QB for the sake of this i'm going to assume brees and garrappolo stay with their teams

    Jets
Obviously we need a QB. we have a high pick 6th overall and enough bait to move up as well as a ton of money to land a free agent. it's a good year to be the jets. Best case we could land a top 3 QB in the draft and still sign a good vet like bradford to start for a few years. and hold onto hack to see if he develops. Cousins would be ideal though

    Denver
They got a 2nd round pick and 1st round pick QBs on their roster in lynch and oswiler. sadly they both suck. their other QB is 7th rounder simian who has outplayed both but still pretty bad. They have the defense and the run game and Qrs to compete but really need a QB. I don't know if they'll draft one, I think they make a big run at a win now vet but could also draft their future QB as well

    Cleveland
Much like us, always looking for a QB. they drafted kizer in the 2nd who sucks so far, I don't see how they can pass up a QB this draft. they have 2 picks in the top 5. If they do anything but draft a QB 1st overall it would be a major screw up. I can't see them making a free agent run at a QB though.

    Bills
If they decide to move on from taylor, they could try and draft a QB or land a free agent. If they keep him, I could see them giving him some weapons on offense

    Steelers
they won't have a high pick, but ben is close to retirement and they need to think about their future. if he does retire they could go after a FA QB since they are a win now team

    Giants
Same as the steelers minus the win now. they need an overhaul, even if they keep eli they could and should draft a QB for the future. eli doens't have much left in the tank and doens't have much around him. They will have a new GM and the 2nd overall pick it seems certain they draft a QB but i don't see them being a free agent player for a QB

    Chargers
Same position as the giants minus the new GM

    Redskins
If they do lose cousins which it seems is more then possible, they will look to draft a QB and maybe bring in a cheaper free agent as well

    Cardinals
they lost palmer and johnson to injury and sucked the rest of the year. Johnson will be back in 2018 but palmer has retired and their backups gabbert and stanton were terrible. They will address the QB position one way or another.

Very informative posts. FYI Brock Osweiler was a 2nd round draft pick.
