Good to see this...appears like the Jets have told him he's going to be the pick and he's doing all he can to prepare to be here and take on the challenge. It shows that he's taking things seriously. Good sign
Hopefully he stops by GNC on the way to Florham PK. for some protein shakes he can take before hitting the weight room.
Actually, Sam didn't hold up very well either. It was a glaring failure and an indictment of Maccagnan's football ignorance.
Seems strange to me, given that his Uncle runs or owns JetBlue Airlines which is based in NY, and they're a NY Jets sponsor. Obviously the Wilson family already has strong ties to this area. What would Zach learn from a call with Chad? Different stadium, different training facility... I don't know. Just seems odd. Maybe I'm the only one feeling that way. Sort of seems like a fluff article and I like Aditi.
I'm sure he learned useful tips like "no hot dogs on the sidelines" and "don't try to play too soon after you shred your shoulder"...
One thing is clear here: if Zach Wilson, a childhood Patriots fan who grew up hating the Jets, is this receptive to getting drafted by the 2nd worst team in the NFL and isn’t even considering a power play to wind up with the team picking directly behind us (who happen to have a Super Bowl ready roster, an elite offensive HC, and are significantly closer to his home), then maybe ‘prospect X should demand a trade’ is a ridiculous storyline that should be retired. Seems like Eli (or his dad) was a once in a lifetime crybaby.
I think most of these young QB kids growing up in this century were Patriots fans because of Tom Brady. Fucking Tom Brady
It IS a different stadium, different training facility, different CS, and different GM, but he still could get an idea what the fans and media were like, and what the pressures were playing in the NYC area.
I see this a lot. I don’t know how this myth got started but Stafford was 225 at the Combine. Plus the concern with Wilson is less about his weight and more about his frame. He has narrow shoulders so he’s like not going to carry anymore weight than what he’s carrying now. https://nflcombineresults.com/playerpage.php?i=8363
Zach Wilson: Is there pressure being a starting QB in the largest media market in the US? Chad Pennington: Absolutely none. Even less now that Manish Meta has had his wings clipped.
I think the pressure is on the local beat media to stay relevant. 90% of their existence now is retweeting something someone else reported and adding their own opinion to it. That's why you have guys like Mehta going all Fatal Attraction.
Yeah I was just going to post this. Not to mention Stafford had one of the strongest arms coming out of the past twenty years and for whatever it's worth even at his current height/weight/frame he's taken a fucking beating in the NFL. He's just a warrior and it's not the norm to always be able to play through the injuries he has.
