I know what many are thinking, because I’m thinking the same way The most likely outcome is a pretty good NFL starter, top 7–8, maybe 1-2 Pro Bowls, a few deep playoff appearances and no Super Bowls But if left with only those 2 choices… Given the fact that he can throw very well off platform and does look like a poor man’s version of Aaron Rodgers, burns the midnight oil watching game film and purportedly hates Steve Young… Or maybe he looks like a HOF’er after a few seasons and the Jets ruin him via injury due to some backup OL getting bulldozed directly into his bad shoulder? Or is he yet another QB with great physical gifts who doesn’t develop the mental game to match? At least we know he’ll be better than Trevor Lawrence…
Looking at Wilson, his physical talents, smarts, work ethic...I think at worst he'll be a Kirk Cousins type. I don't see him failing or having a short bumpy career as a starter. He is head and shoulders above guys like Sanchez, Geno, and Darnold who were more projects coming out of college with big issues that needed to be worked on. At best...sky's the limit. He can be a top 5 starter in the NFL
Two factors in play: 1. Does Wilson have it or has he been built up by a desperate fan base? 2. If he has it can the Jets support him well enough to let him develop here or does he wind up in Matthew Stafford-land?
In many ways, isnt that worse though? KC is good enough to remain a starting QB forever, but realistically unless EVERYTHING else around him is elite, are you winning a SB? Especially when you consider what he needs to be paid. On the other hand, at least if your QB busts, you rinse and repeat after 3 years or so.
I think he will be in the Hall of Fame one day. But whether he will be visiting with his kids or inducted remains to be seen.
