So we hear Rob Saleh saying Zach looks beefy and bulked up. Thats very important for him, he needs to take the abuse better. Do we have any visual evidence?
I appreciate that he's taking the offseason seriously. He just needs to show that he can maintain the post injury ball security, while also making more plays. He had 2 interceptions the last 7 games of the season which is awesome, but he also only had 5 TDs. That won't get the job done. He's got solid players everywhere with a solid OL (could be even better with a healthy Becton. Its put up or shut up time for Zach. I don't think he's guaranteed a third year as starter.
Wearing a thick hoodie under his shirt will have nothing to do with it either but his legs do look a little bigger as well lol
Check out the He did the double-shirt thing last year too, and the apples-to-apples comparison shows a lot more bulk. But if you want a shot without the double-shirt, check out this video. He may not be at The Hulk level yet, but the dude is a lot more massive than last year. In particular, notice: 1. Starting around 30 seconds into the video, he almost looks like he's wearing shoulder pads. A lot more bulk to shoulders and traps. 2. Starting at 45 seconds into the video, he takes a snap, and he clearly didn't miss back day. The other pictures showed more bulk in his legs. You can't expect a guy to gain 50 pounds of muscle in an offseason, but he's put on a very respectable amount of mass over the past 5 months.
I'm not convinced Zach needed to bulk up much. IMO his best attribute is his athleticism and agility. Hopefully that doesn't decline much with the added weight.
"Yeah, NFL league office, this is an anonymous concerned citizen who thinks you should run some PED tests on that #2 QB for the Jets. I think his name is Wilson. Thanks."
A little more muscle wouldn't have hurt Zach considering he looked very thin last year. I was very impressive with his agility, and his overall athleticism is slightly underrated IMO. Big boys league so a little bulk up should suit him just fine.
Guy was launching piss missiles with string beans for arms. QB mechanics will never fail to confuse me.
I think what this shows is that Zach is taking his off season training - physical and otherwise - seriously. It still amazes me that so many people are rooting against him. He certainly has things to prove, and hasn't made it yet, but his attitude and work ethic are great examples for the rest of the team to follow, and he's been busy as an off field ambassador as well. If there was a trophy for "Best Fans At Eating Their Young" Jet fans would easily win it.
