Ok , TGGers. We all saw the shambles take shape then change into an even more disgusting shape and then the crowd, what was left anyway cheered the disgusting mess and then the disgusting mess turned rancid. So how are the Jets CS going to fix this? Is it fair to blame individuals in what is an ultimate team game? I don't think so , especially after just one game , and against a superbowl favourite. Some changes I would make , even now. Scrap the 3-4 and play a hybrid 4-3. We just do not have the personell to play it , why persist with it? We can't stop the run or pass now. At least with the 4-3 QBs won't be on holiday in the backfield. Either trade to get Pete kendall back or realistically get a FA with some experience. There are some that are bashing Brick saying how awfull he is , yep I'd agree , but to single him out is unfair. I said this many weeks ago , He more than Mangold still needs veteren help , and its evident. How about using a FB for our much vaunted new RB. And is running outside really his forte? How many times are we going to go to Cotchery? He can't do it all. Once again Baker caught all thrown his way and we stopped going to him. Use him more , he blocks well and catches well. If we are going to kick deep , the kick needs loft as well or else it will spread the field for our KO coverage. Any other ideas?
I have no idea what Mangini's gonna do. After watching that I think the Homer Simpson "Hide under a pile of coats in the corner" tactic might be as good as any.
I'd have my PR staff shut down all these message boards... Now back to seriousness.. I'd work on the OL.
#1 get a veteran OG and yes a RT too. #2 Start KC - lets get the ball downfield and get some respect. That should open up the run game. Keyword RESPECT, no teams respect Chads dinking and doinking. This entire offense is tailored made for Chads weakness in the armstrength department. That why we got a big supply of TEs and FBs. #3 go 4-3 for the most part, suck it up that going this way we will have a lot of LBs, but at least this will be our strength, and should keep teams honest against running on us. That will take me to point #4 get Barrett out.(he doesn't even turn his head around to make a play on the ball) He's a nickle at best. Start Revis and Dyson if he's ready. If not sink or swim with Revis and Miller. #5 Can we get any mammoth DT to help D-Rob? Can Thomas play 4-3 and be effective, if not what about our other DEs, can they stepup and produce in the 4-3? We got to switch it up and not just go 3-4 it isn't working and the time for smoke and mirrors is over, it just helps mask defects in the defense and we will get away with it sometimes, but in the end we will get called for it like last year.
#1. Run leon and jones together in the backfield on every play. Run some wishbone formations and really keep the defense on its heels. Make the defense deal with the speed of leon and the power of jones in the same formation. #2. Blitz Vilma! He has the speed to be a good rusher. #3. Play Harris, the jets need a sledehammer and a big linebacker in the their corps. #4. Run more zone blitzes. Blitz 3 linebacker and drop coleman into short coverage in the middle and confuse the qb. #5. Make sure D'Brick gets fired up and pissed off. I was at teh game and he got really pissed off and then the O-Line started run blocking.
I would cry. Seriously, there's really not much you can do when your lines on both sides are playing so poorly. It all starts up front, and these guys just aren't cutting it. D-Brick just isn't making the progressions into being that wall on the left, Kendall's absent is pretty huge as Patsy defenders were pushing through right up the middle, and the line overall can barely seem to give the QB enough time to drop back, let alone survey the field. On the opposite side, the defensive line isn't generating much, if any, pressure. They tightened up on run defense for a period, but that started to fade as well. It seems both lines were just engulfed by the bigger, better Patsy lines.
I agree completely. i think D'Brick has the tools to be a wall at Left Tackle, but he's too nice to play the game. No tenacity.
