What is your own personal draft board at pick 4? It may seem like an obvious statement, but I think the Jets might just be waiting to select the BPA. It is the Bellichek way. For the most part, we are okay at RB, QB, DE, OT, and TE, but BPA gives you the chance to upgrade your team in the best possible way. I dont think they have any player targeted in particular, I think they will just rely on their big board. This would explain the recent development that the Jets are content to stay at 4 rather than to trade up. My board (which I also view as theirs) is as follows... 1) RB Reggie Bush 2a) QB Matt Leinart 2b) DE Mario Williams 3a) OT D'Brickashaw Ferguson 3b) TE Vernon Davis Why list FIVE players even though we pick at FOUR?? Because I believe those rankings may be subject to change within their respective numeral. For example, depending on Leinart's workout he may drop below Mario, but IMO will never drop below Ferguson. If we are left with just Ferguson or Davis, it will be a tough decision. We may decide to spruce either the oline or select ourselves a playmaker in the passing game. Myself, I would go with Davis, but with all the interest we have shown in FA LTs this offsaeason, it leads me to believe we are not completely satisfied there, and will look to upgrade. But it all comes down to who they view as BPA
My draft board, this has nothing to do with the teams: 1) Mario Williams 2) Matt Leinart 3) Reggie Bush 4) Vince Young 5) Ferguson 6) AJ Hawk 7) Vernon Davis
1) Reggie Bush 2) Mario Williams 3) Vince Young 4) D'Brick 5) Cutler 6) Lineart 7) Hawk 8) Huff 9) Vernon Davis 10) Deangelo Williams (regardless of the non-hype he gets) close to the top 10: Ngata, Manny Lawson(especially for us....this guy is a future pro bowler), ernie sims
1) Matt Leinart - Doesn't have the mobility like Schotty wants but he wants to play here and I think the feeling is close to mutual 2) Mario Williams - Great replacement for J. Abe 3) Vince Young - Mobile but would be like Philips in SD benchwarmer for a year then maybe start. 4) Ferguson - Would be like Pace in St.L great player but will have the team by the balls when it comes to $$$ in the future. 5) Cutler - The type of QB the OC wants but is a reach at 4 6) AJ Hawk - Great LB but is would be hard to see with Vilma and Barton already there(not the same position but to take an LB with 2 great guys there already is a stretch to me) 7) Vernon Davis - Best TE in the draft but won't be taken at 4 I would have to be on drugs if I put Bush on the board thinking he would fall to 4. It's like a why bother when you know he is gone at 1.
Here is my top 10 draft board. This does not reflect who I think the Jets should draft in order but those players I think will make a major contribution to whomever drafts them.... 1. R. Bush 2. M. Williams 3. D. Ferguson 4. A. Hawk 5. M. Huff 6. W. Justice 7. H. Ngata 8. M. Leinert 9. V. Young 10. V. Davis
2) Mario Williams and John Abraham are very different players, it's not about replacing Abraham it's about building a good team. F John Abe I don't want to hear his name. 3) VY, almost any qb you take in the first round is going to sit for a minimum half a season. 4) How do you compare D'brick to Pace? They are completely different players, one is a mauler and one is a finesse pass rusher. And yes anyone who is drafted 4th overall is going to be getting a ton of money. 5) Cutler may be a reach at 4, but our front office is going to draft the players that are highest on their board regarless of where the pick is. 6) What does AJ Hawk have to do with Barton? And did you really say Barton is great? I mean come on, he's a nice player but above average at best. He's never played in a 3-4 before so who knows what his role will be. I don't want Hawk becuase he's only 6'1" and thats not ideal size for a 3-4 LB.
2) I'm not saying he's JA jr. I'm just saying he fills a possible hole on the D-Line 3) I know that most QB's don't play year 1 but VY won't be ready till year 2 unlike ML and Cutler 4) Easy they are both tackles that are good and drafted high and D'brick looks to me like he going to play who ever drafts him like Pace does to St. L year in and year out franchise tag after franchise tag. 6) Barton is a decent player, it's not like he's Marvin Jones/Mo Lewis in 2003/04.
Mario Williams before Leinart and Bush??? I'm having a hard time understanding the enfatuation around here with Williams. He's a physical freak of nature and can be a dominating force. But for a fanbase who destested John Abraham so much for taking plays off it seems strange that Mario Williams would be so well liked. 1) Reggie Bush 2) D'Brickashaw Ferguson 3a) Matt Leinart 3b) Jay Cutler 5) Mario Williams 6) Vince Young 7) Haloti Ngata 8) AJ Hawk 9) Vernon Davis 10) DeAngelo Williams
You know guys I'm buying into the Brodrick Bunkley hype... I would be very happy if we were able to trade down to 8 or 9 and get him. From what I've heard he can play a 3-4 NT and is a little short but that will help him get leverage on opposing C's.
Well if we trade down its a different story altogether. Not saying Im opposed to it, but Id rather pick up an ELITE player at 4, than a VERY GOOD TOP TIER PLAYER a little later, even if we could get another solid starter out of it. But I suppose Denver and Minn would be our best options if we did choose to follow that path
