It's not popular, but at least Fitz is an NFL QB. Petty is not, at least right now. It's time to give up on the idea guys like Petty, Geno, and Hack are going to be the answer. Let Fitz finish out the season to further develop guys Enunwa and Anderson, and evaluate others. Bowles also owes it to guys like Marshall, Forte, and Powell who are giving effort. It will benefit whomever is QB next year. We will still get a good draft pick, and will have some options at QB next year.
For what purpose? They're 3-7 and not going to run the table with two games against the frigging Patriots. The bye's the perfect time to make the switch permanently. Even if the heavens opened up and they ran the table somehow they're not getting in the playoffs at 9-7.
It doesn't matter anymore, now you might as well play him and get him ready with game reps in a meaningless situation.
With all due respect, the coaches lost this game not Petty. They did noting to help him and played NOT TO LOSE which is a hall mark of this HC and CS. For example, kept calling 5-7 yard passes ...really the guy has a arm how stretching the field so the secondary will not play tight which is what they were doing 2nd half...
How do you know what they were calling? Petty was too indecisive to pull the trigger and always elected to check down anytime he went through progressions
Fitz will probably come back to play the Pats and when we lose he will go back to Petty. At which point they'll probably still be stupid conservative with him still as if theres a season to salvage.
The coaches didn't help him much by constant 3rd and longs but if he makes a few more plays, the team wins the game.
For the love of all that is holy, flex the Jets Patriots game the motherfuck out of primetime. I'm begging.
He elected to check down because nobody was open most of the time. Most of the throws were to blanketed receivers. We don't have much talent on offense to begin with, no TE's, one old receiver with stone hands and solid-but-not-fast Enunwa. We aren't going to win with Fitz or Petty, I'd rather see Petty, because Fitz is what he has been for the last 10 years. That said, the play-calling was atrocious, and I assume that's Bowles' decision. It's typical of mediocre coaches from the defensive side to play not to lose, and if you've been saying you still have a chance to win, you have to go balls to the wall. This was just a coach trying not to look too bad and lose his job. Ron
Petty reminded me of EJ Manuel, good arm, indecisive. Give him one or two more games, if not on to Hack. Might as well figure it out now because if neither of these guys are it they'll be drafting someone and Fitz will be back next season.
