It's what it looked like from the stadium. Sure Gronk made plays but he was not the usual Gronk. Do we praise Cro? Finally paid off and came through?
I wanted Cro on Gronk the first game, due to his length and athleticism. TGG pointed out how Cro would be unable to prevent YAC, so bad idea. Guess it was a good idea after all.
The gameplan was nice, Cro played solid, and the players that supported him in coverage did as well. He did make those plays in the Pats last drive to extend their hopes on consecutive fourth downs but ,what the hell, you're not gonna shut him out. Hopefully if wee them again we can coach and play like we did today.
Cro did not spend the whole game on Gronk. Revis covered him a few times also and I'm pretty sure safeties also had him for at least a couple plays. Gronk wasn't shutdown but he was slowed down. The guy is a monster & holding him to 80-something yards is an accomplishment.
And that was WITH him getting two clutch fourth down catches on that last drive, one where Pryor whacked him and he still hung on.
This is correct. They platooned coverage on Gronk, I saw Cro, Revis, Gilchrist and Pryor all covering him at different times.
Cro was on him at certain points as well. And when he caught that big first down on 4th and 9 I believe I saw Marcus Williams trailing him.
For a guy that supposedly can't tackle Cro took down Gronk by himself on the first catch that Gronk had. Later in the game four other guys struggled to bring him down.
