Pretty good videos, watch the Bell one if you dont have time to watch all of em, cuz I honestly didnt see him play that much, besides the Jets games. Bell Maybin Cromartie Pace Harris
Dolphins fans don't have the pleasure of having a top corner combo. The most impressive highlights are the Maybin ones by far. The guy makes guys miss blocks routinely and just never gives up on plays. How was he so bad in Buffalo?!?!?!?!?
Those highlights looked good from a hustle/never give up on a play standpoint and he has a great speed rush but I think he needs to work on his pass rush moves if he is going to be a top pass rusher in this league. Rex can probably coach him that.(I hope not)
Being a great pass rusher has everything to do with raw speed, athleticism and strength and very little to do with coaching. Coaching can make a TEAM better at getting after the quarterback, but very rarely will it make the individual a better pass rusher. Maybin has the speed and athleticism, thats for absolute sure. Next step is to see if he really did bulk up and gain some strength so that he could shed more blocks when he has to re-direct himself on run-plays/ scrambles. That would bring him to the next level, not Rex.
I saw a lot of long completed passes followed by big hits in Bells tape. JETS Def got killed last year on third and longs. We have much better corners then the Fins do but hopefully this isn't something we get used to seeing.
I'm already pretty used to seeing it with that Brodney Poole/Eric Smith combo...ANYTHING is an upgrade over that.
The guys look good, hopefully Rex can use them to accent each other. I agree, Maybin looks the best in those vids, he put the ball on the ground a lot. With a pressure coming from all over the line, they should all see opportunities at the QB.
Coaching has way more to do with being a great pass rusher than you're giving credit for here. There is a ton of technique involved that Maybin needs to improve. He improved a lot last year from little to no technique to some average technique, but good coaching and dedication from him can make a huge difference.
This is what I think will happen with Maybin. ------------------------------------------ Ryan is a strong believer of "Less is More" approach. Maybin's primary strength will come from his speed, but the few pass rushing skills he showed last season (spin moves, swim moves and club moves - just those three) he will work on them exclusively this off season. That has been generally Ryan's approach, I believe; this is clear in his preparation of his defense. i.e. the offensive linemen can have up to 77 different traps/blocking schemes each game. Traditional way was to teach the defensive linemen all 77 schemes and correct techniques to beat them. Ryan way is to 1. cluster them in two big chunks and 2. categorize each chunks in 2 to 3 universal techniques. Then with total of 5 to 6 techniques (about three will be his primary read, with the other two to three his secondary read) the DL can successfully defeat the blocking schemes. This is one example, but you can rest assured same approach will be in place for Maybin.
I figured I'd add this to the mix since this guy is a huge part of our defensive success as well. Laron Landry highlights. He only played in 8 games last year so it's short. Our D is beasting this year.
You can have Maybin and I wish him the best because we have moved on. 2 worst players on our DL. See you soon Sanchez, and Tebow I guess.
get the fuck out of here with this bullshit the bills are one of the most pathetic franchises in professional sports, why the fuck would anyone on this board want to see highlights of guys you picked up that will ultimately fade away into the great white north. have fun crossing the border for home games whenever the hell they move to toronto
You guys play in a different state, but its nice you finally got your own stadium, kind of, really its still the Giants stadium. But Im coming to it Sep 9th. If I tell you where I'm sitting you promise not to throw anything at me?
Go to Finheaven and argue with Fin fans about whos going to come in 3rd place and whos coming in 4th.
