Here is a list of my baker's dozen, and not necessarily in this order. Many would have Miller farther up the list and I think both Murray and McCarron will be a steal if they last until the 4th round. Hell, with so many QBs coming out these guys might be there in the 5-6 rounds, but I doubt it.

The quality of the 2012 draft may not be challenged, but the quantity of good QBs to draft has never been deeper. Will many go in the 1st round? Maybe not, but with 13 that could possible be taken by the end of the fourth round this could be very interesting to see.

    1.Teddy Bridgewater 6-2, 220 4.65 Louisville
    2.Marcus Mariota 6-4, 215 4.55 Oregon
    3.Johnny Manziel 6-0, 200 4.60 Texas A&M
    4.Sean Mannion 6-5, 215 4.90 Oregon State
    5.Brett Hundley 6-2, 230 4.75 UCLA
    6.Zach Mettenberger 6-5, 225 4.90 LSU
    7.Tajh Boyd 6-1, 225 4.65 Clemson
    8.Derek Carr 6-2, 210 4.65 Fresno State
    9.Stephon Morris 6-2, 215 4.60 Miami
    10.Aaron Murray 6-1, 215 4.75 Georgia
    11.AJ McCarron 6-3, 215 4.80 Alabama
    12.Jimmy Garoppolo 6-2, 225 4.80 Eastern Illinois
    13.Braxton Miller 6-2, 215 4.50 Ohio State

Teams that will be looking to take a QB in the draft at least to battle for the #2 QB spot.
Patriots (Brady will need a new backup.)
Jets (Jets will need a #3 QB at least to replace Garrard.)
Browns (They need someone to come in and challenge Home-Town Hoyer)
Jaguars (They need a #1 and the next coach will get his.)
Raiders (Even if they stick with Pryor, they need another.)
Packers (Wallace is not the long term answer at #2)
Buccaneers (Glennon will be there future, but they need a #2)
Cardinals (Palmer and Stanton are there top tow and showing age.)
Rams (If you have Clemens as your starter, you need help.)

Biggest question will be who drafts Manziel, and will he be just to sell seats?

First, I've had that avatar up since the day we drafted Smith, nothing new there. I think mentally and physically Smith is not even the best QB on the Jets roster. Been saying it for months, but I feel the Jets will suffer through a few years before they move on.

Second, this is a draft thread in the "Draft" area.

There are ten better QB is the draft than Smith and I just hope we get one at some point. But that aside, in three years I feel there could be more starts at QB from the 2014 draft than we will have from the 2012 draft which was one of the best QB drafts in a long time.

Please let this POS thread die. I know this post is bumping it, but hopefully this will end it.

Why? Maybe merge them if anything. Some valid observations.

My top two QBs I like so far for the 2014 Draft. Not talking a top five or even top ten pick, but they would be good NFL prospects. Will see more clearly after the season and pro-days.

One QB I really like so far, but have GREAT reservations on is Mariota from Oregon.
    - Marcus Mariota,Oregon 6'4", 215 lbs and runs a 4.55

Things I look at are who he throws to and who he hands off to in college. Mariota has a top 20 college receiver in Josh Huffn so I count that as a negative. Add in he has two great young RBs in Marshall and Tyner and that is a double negative. Is the run so good because of the passing game or is it the other way? Then add in he has Colt Lyerla at TE and Hroniss Grasu at Center whom is pretty darn good. Begs to ask who wouldn't be good with that talent around you?

The guy I think who is my dark horse is Sean Mannion from Oregon State. He hurt his stock in the last three games, but up until then he was rocking it.
    - Sean Mannion, Oregon State, 6'5", 215 lbs, with a sluggish 4.90 speed. (A pocket QB.)

He has a possible top ten receiver in Brandin Cooks who caught 110 passes this year, but is short and quick, but not what I would call a speedster at the NFL level. He has no run support and not an offensive guy at any passion I would call even a top thirty except for Cooks, compared to all the guys Mariota has.

*Both these guys would be better if they stay in college another year, but they won't and even as they are should find themselves in the top 5 QBs taken.

It's too bad we took an unqualified QB in the past draft.

Another couple of years of mediocrity

We took a shot at a possible franchise QB in the 2nd round. It's not like we took Geno with a top 10 pick, or even a 1st round pick. And while I'm not the biggest fan of Geno, considering he's a rookie and throwing to a motley crew of receivers, I wouldn't write him off just yet.

I just hope the front office doesn't take 5 years to figure out the QB situation like they did with Sanchez.

At this point I'm not sure any of these QB's have established themselves as franchise types. It may be that
Derek Carr jumps into the top 5.

It's certainly an interesting year. Maybe 2014 will be the year one of the Carr brothers from Fresno State makes good. The family lived through a nightmare with older brother David after he was taken out of Fresno State by the Texans in 2002.

This time last year people were asking if Carr would get drafted at all.

That's the dilemma at play here. Do you try to prop up Geno with some dynamic playmakers only to find out 3 years from now he isn't the guy, and in the process forgo 4 or 5 guys coming out this year who are clearly better?

You have to grab one of these guys this year. Mettenberger, Carr, Manziel, McCarron, Boyd, Murray? Not in the running for Teddy or Mariota, but the other guys will be there for the taking.

Run them out there with Geno next year in a real competition and you could watch and see which of the 2 guys is the real deal without putting all our eggs in one basket.

And Geno has established that he's a franchise type?

Bradway is right about last year, but he is clearly one of the better options in the draft right now. Big time arm and a stellar record at Fresno will do wonders for his draft stock. With so many teams seeming to be QB needy I see him going around the mid first at the latest.

He's kind of a classic case of a late bloomer. He and Mettenberger share that quality this draft. The fact that two of them are in the category of potentially undrafted in 2013 to potential 1st rounder in 2014 really helps both of them because anybody who is looking at one will probably be looking at the other as a comparison.

Jonathan Cooper and Chance Warmack really helped each other out in the draft last season because anybody looking at one of the guards had to look at the other one too and the hype and buzz grew exponentially for them as a duo.

My only problem with Carr is that I haven't seen him- aside from the clips. But from everything I've heard about him, he could easily be the real deal. If he grades out as one of the top guys, I would have no problem taking him. He does have a pedigree-even though David didn't have a good time of it, the bloodlines of an NFL QB are there.

I'm going to have to catch one of his games soon.

To be honest, none of us know if any of these guys are going to pan out, it's just I've seen so much more of Teddy, Mettenberger, Manziel, Mariota, Boyd, Murray and I've loved McCarron for a few years now.

Mark this down. New England will take AJ McCarron if he is available when their 2nd round pick is OTC.
