I've decided to try to get things back on track, to a world where rules matter, and there are consequences for breaking them. Tuesday Joba Chamberlain, RHP (8-3, 3.98) vs. Kevin Millwood, RHP (9-8, 3.48) Wednesday Andy Pettitte, LHP (10-6, 4.25) vs. Derek Holland, LHP (7-7, 4.72) Thursday A.J. Burnett, RHP (10-7, 4.08) vs. Dustin Nippert, RHP (4-2, 3.95) The matchups probably favor the Rangers a bit in this series. The silver lining there is that if things go wrong, that's not necessarily a bad thing for those of us rooting for Boston to miss the playoffs.
All three starters were rocked last time out and need redemption. Two good lineups going at it here but no reason why the Yanks can't win this series.
A little ahead of myself but they say Peavy may make his debut against us this weekend..dandy. I know how this team is against pitchers they have never faced before..see Tarazwa.
And, of course, to make it a truly classic Don post, it requires that there be factual errors in addition to the negativity. Peavy has faced the Yankees twice before (most recently in 2008). He's 0-2 against them.
I like the optimism but let's not get carried away. They need to get out of the first round which has been quite a struggle in recent years before we can start making room for #27 on the mantle.
When it matters? What is different about Saturday vs. the other two games? I believe you mean, what are the odds that he lasts five innings tonight?
