Why do the Yankees continue to start Gaudin and Joba back to back? It puts a lot of pressure on the bullpen... Jorge just drilled a single, 3-1 Bombers. Is Mo available today?
Watched most of it, switching back and forth from tennis. Gardner made one of the best plays of the season.
Carlos Pena will be out awhile. http://www.google.com/hostednews/ap/article/ALeqM5iIRCjArU7_VHkCRWASAMpilicuRAD9AINIIO2
Don's right. Can you imagine the disgrace if the Yankees only have the best record in baseball by three or four games instead of six or seven? There's no such thing as pressure on the pen in September. The Yanks are carrying 18 pitchers -- 12 relievers (one long man) and 6 starters. If Gaudin, Joba, and Mitre want to go three innings in their three games, the Yanks have enough arms in the pen that they could use each pitcher in the pen only once.
More guys sitting than I would think. Tampa Bay's lineup is especially thin. Zobrist, Bartlett, Navarro, and Crawford all out. After Longoria, Zobrist, Bartlett, and Crawford are their three best players. Yankees sitting Posada and A-Rod. Those makes sense.
Yankees finally get to Sonnanstine in the third. Game blown open and I don't think the Rays will come back. It was punctuated by a three run homer by Teixeira. 5-1 and I wouldn't count on the Rays getting more than 2 the rest of the way.
seven singles by the Yankees in an eight run third. Red Sox lost today, so the division is even further out of reach for them. Yankees up 9 on Boston and up 16.5 on Tampa Bay. Tampa Bay is finished. They're not getting the wild card. I think they'll finish behind both Boston and Texas, and Seattle should pass them as well. A shame we can't get TBDF's thoughts on this.
Yeah, kiss Tampa good bye. Their pitching staff just isn't good enough, and especially after this laugher is over they are gonna be screwed for the next 2 games. It's nice to see Burnett settle down--funny how a 7 run lead will do that for you.
Tex and ARod swinging hot bats. ARod's avg up to .283. He has a 138 OPS+ Cappy. Let's hope they keep it up.
