    Yankees (19-8) @ Red Sox (14-14)

    - Game 1: Friday 7:10 pm

Phil Hughes, RHP (3-0, 1.44) vs. Josh Beckett, RHP (1-0, 6.31)

    - Game 2: Saturday 3:10 pm

CC Sabathia, LHP (4-1, 2.74) vs. Clay Buchholz, RHP (3-2, 2.97)

    - Game 3: Sunday 8:05 pm

    A.J. Burnett, RHP (4-0, 1.99) vs. TBA

    -------------------------------------------------------------

Should be a good series. I'm thinking a 2-1 series win.

    Good write-ups here:

I'd love to see Hughes puzzle this Boston lineup.

    Shouldn't be that hard?

    Their lineup makes Vazquez confident

Actually, Boston's been clobbering the ball lately. Put up 11 runs tonight. Currently third in the majors in OPS. They're averaging almost seven runs/game over their last ten games.

I don't know what Boston your talking about, hey its easy to get that many runs against the Angles with Saunders and Kazmir pitching. They have gone against some pretty shitty pitching, not to mention they got swept by the O's who are not a good team

Yes, they got swept by the O's, but they still scored 15 runs in that series. I just wouldn't take the offense for granted, that's all. I certainly don't agree that it's a lineup that would have Vazquez confident.

Their problem this year has been (hilariously) pitching and defense.

Vazquez would throw a perfect game against Boston, I'd put 10,000 vcash on it.

You gotta take a step back and realize everything posted (from me) is not literally meant...

    Prediction...coming...

Yanks lose game 1, Beckett steps up his game and gets back to the Beckett we love to hate.
    Yanks take game 2 & 3

I understand you weren't being literal. You were trying to say that the Boston lineup is pretty stinky. What I was trying to tell you is, it's not. They've been hitting the ball well lately, even if it was against mediocre pitching.

They always step up their play v. the Yankees.

I'm not expecting them to perform poorly at the plate.

If Hughes CC and AJ bring the stuff they've had lately, it shouldn't be difficult to take this series.

That said, the Yankees have to do their part at the plate too. I don't remember too well, but I believe they struggled against Bucholtz last season and of course, like I said before, if Beckett brings the good stuff he will be hard to hit.

I expect to hit Beckett. I also expect Hughes to deal. Game 1 comes down to how many pitches it takes Hughes to get outs. If he gets through the 7th, I call this a win. If he throws 100 by the 6th, chances are good the pen puts this one in the right-hand column.

Game 2, CC dominates. It'll be a low-scoring game and Joe West will avoid weeping for one night. Yankees win a low scoring pitching duel.

AJ is my wild card game. Do we get the Burnett with a great curve, or do we get 2 innings, 7 ER? It's a bit hard to call when we don't even know who we'll be facing, but I lay this more on Burnett's pitching than whoever the Sox send out there.

Only thing I expect is someone to plant one in one of Youkilis' kneecaps. An earhole would work just as well....

I'd pay $5 for Joba to do it, just to witness the histrionics.

I don't know why it said TBD, it's going to be Lester. That's his normal turn in the rotation, and he's been lights out lately so there's no reason to skip him.

Yeah, I just checked the Yankees' site and it says Lester is facing Burnett. Unless we get the Burnett that pitched the other day, I have to give this one to Boston. Lester does have a 4.19 career ERA vs. the Yankees, but Burnett's career ERA versus the Sox is 4.99.

What's interesting is that this is probably the first time in years that the Yankees and Boston could actually have a well-pitched series. Won't that make Joe West smile...

Even when the games are low scoring they are long. It's because both lineups take a ton of pitches and there are a ton of pitching changes. Plus Posada goes to the mound after every pitch. These teams just play long games. It really isn't a big deal.

Personally, I don't care how long the games are. Joe West is the douchebag blowhard that does.

I am starting to agree with jonnyd that these series are getting to be a bit much though.
