Okay, I'm pushing my luck, and starting this thread before someone eating a turkey sammich does. Hopefully my luck so far continues...
It looks like Tyler Clippard is getting called up to pitch Sunday night...I can't wait to see him. He's always be knocked on because of he doesn't have ideal stuff or a big frame, but all he's ever done is produce. Stats this year: 3-2 with a 2.72 ERA 41 K, 17 BB, and 40 H in 39.2 innings In his last 3 starts: 3 ER, 23 K, 6 BB, 18 H in 19.1 IP
At least it's something to look forward to. Of course, he'll probably pitch a 3 hitter, and we'll score nothing.
What's the deal with this? I thought it was Mussina Sunday, did he get pushed back a day because of the rainout?
As a huge Yankee fan I must say it is really hard to get excited about any upcoming Yankee series so I don't think this thread will get much activity at all by us.
As much as I am completely digusted and disappointed in this team right now,i know it will get turned around. This could be the series. the players on the field are plenty enough to take the Mets, they just need to start running on all cylanders.
I want to throw my hands up in disgust too, especially since I think this season is already over. However, doing that would make me like a 96er. I lived through the 80s. I survived it, even when teams like Detroit were beating the piss out of us. I watched the Red Sox lose to the Mets in the World Series. I watched Donnie Baseball retire without a ring, and watched Mike Pagliarulo leave to find glory with the Twins. I watched Willie Randolph make way for Steve Sax. I watched Steve Howe get his 35th chance to kick the coke habit. I saw Andy Hawkins lose a no-hitter. I watched Dave Winfield make throws Bobby Abreu has wet dreams about. I remember watching Seattle compete with players formerly in pinstripes like Danny Pasqua and Jay Buhner. I remember HATING Oakland and those stupid "Bash Brothers" long before either was a known juice head. Sorry guys, this year is lost. So what? For the past decade we've been playing in October, regardless of the final results. The fact is, we've won more World Series from 96 until today than any other team has appeared in during the same time frame. That's ridiculous, and not very fair to more than half the league. Granted, a team like KC has no business even being a major league team, but Toronto tries to compete every year. We've had our time in the sun. As Yankees fans, we know that if our history is any indication of the future, we will be back in the postseason within the next few seasons. Some teams NEVER make it to the postseason. So don't go jumping ship now. If there's anything I can respect a Mets or Sox fan for, it's the patience with their teams. It was over 8 decades of waiting for the Sox, and the Mets waited 14 season to return, just to get beat by us. (That's not meant as a dig at either team or its fans.) It's just our turn to go home early. Shit happens.
As mad as I am,i won't be ready to throw the towel in unless we are still dealing with this shit mid June. There is way too much talent to declare the season over in mid may.
Andy Pettitte vs. Oliver Perez Darrell Rasner vs. Tom Glavine Tyler Clippard vs. John Maine who the hell is Tyler Clippard?
Farnsworth critical of Clemens "family plan" thing. (omg obsessed w/ yankeez) I see his point and agree with him. But I don't think he'd care too much if Clemens pitches well.
