Asses kicked in the series finale but it's another won-series.

Gotta keep the ball rolling, big opponent this week.

2 outta 3 here puts us at least .5 up in the WC.

After yesterday, I have little confidence in this series. We need to get the series win here or we're in trouble again.

I'm with you although it appeared to me that Torre conceded that game even before they stepped on the field. He has a tendency to do that from time to time. He just has no clue how to go for the jugular.

As bad as Myers was I think Villone is worse. Maybe Myers will clear and they can dump Villone instead. Assuming they even need a left hander. Neither ever got anybody out anyway. It took Villone 50 freaking pitches to get 4 outs. Karstens is worthless too. At least they can DL him for his blister.

Wow, you guys are seriously bi-polar. Let's level out those highs and lows here, people. It was one game. They weren't going to win every game for the rest of the season. Wang will have bad games. It wll happen, unfortunately. Thankfully, you can bet that it won't happen very often (and when it does, it's usually on turf).

They still have the best record in baseball since June 1st. They still have been winning series. They've been hitting the ball. In general, they've been pitching well.

The Yankees have a stretch of games against tough teams, but that's a GOOD thing. These teams are their competition for the playoff spots. They control their destiny here.

    And that's my fear.

I'm far from bi-polar on this issue. I've been the most vocal for not getting excited about any success all along. The pitching is still very suspect.

Honestly, I don't have the confidence in Wang I had last year. He appears to me to be trying to force strikeouts more than outs ever since the perfect game attempt. Gator needs to wake the hell up and tell the guy to stop trying so hard to place his pitches.

As for Karstens, hasn't he had blister problems before? Sorry, but that's a problem. I like the guy, but he's not good enough for me to support if he's going to have blister problems and not be able to go long like we needed last night.

Villone is garbage. I thought we had established that in spring training. Nope, guess not.

I'm trying to play wait-and-see, but I fear playing Cleveland right now. We can beat up poor pitching, but as soon as the pitcher is above-average, we're struggling.

Not that 4 runs is a bad offensive showing, but unless our starters can pitch at the top of their game, good teams are going to outscore us more often than not.

I wonder if David Wells can pitch long relief out of the pen...

I was thinking the same thing..he certainly will throw strikes anyway and he is a gamer. As long as he leaves his boom box home I would give him a shot. If we don't somebody will.

    2 things bro.

    1) I was joking. Wells is done.

    2) No one is picking him up.

    :shit:

Hmm. I'm not sure why your confidence would be shaken. He's by far the most consistent pitcher on the team, and is performing as well (or better) than last year, for the most part.

Before this last game (the worst of his career), Wang's ERA and WHIP were better than last year's, and you could say that the hamstring injury from the beginning of the season is what kept his early numbers so inflated, He's been insanely consistent (with only two or three blips) since that rocky start. 2007 Wang is still outperforming 2006 Wang in K/9, K/BB, and OBA. I know you can't toss out the bad start... but it just seems like you're judging the pitcher at his lowest point.

The ability to strike people out is a GOOD thing. I don't think he's "forcing" the issue. He has games where the four-seamer and slider are a larger part of his gameplan than the sinker. He has admitted that those games are the ones where his sinker isn't working. To have a fall-back "mode" of pitching is a good thing. Versatility is good. He needed to try it during last night's game, when - not only was his sinker staying up - but every ground ball he did get was "Past a diving Jeter!"

Nice..TB is beating Detroit 3-0 in the 5th..if it holds up we could be tied for the WC tonight without even playing as Seattle is off too..3 way tie. Ouch..forget that, I forgot Seattle is 1/2 game ahead of us.

Too much to hope for that Detroit plays like they are now in the 8 games we have coming up with them over the next 2 weeks.

I wonder who will take Clemens start whenever he starts his suspension..I can't imagine they would bring Igawa back up for that and I doubt they would use Chamberlain either..they can't keep jerking him around. I guess it will have to be somebody in the 40 man roster..maybe Henn..whoever it is we can add 1 to the loss column.

I wouldn't be surprised if Karstens got the ball for Clemens missed start. He makes more sense than anyone else. Otherwise they have to make roster moves, and we really don't have the manuverability.
