I know there won't be a ton of XFL players that go on to find success in the NFL, but I sure hope we're paying attention to some of the top guys. With how devoid of talent we've been at the skill positions, I hope we grab one or two at least as a camp body. A couple guys I've noticed below (and I'm sure everyone else has too). TE Donald Parham - Dallas Renegades WR Cam Phillips - Houston Roughnecks RB Jacques Patrick - Tampa Bay Vipers WR Austin Proehl - Seattle Dragons RB/WR - Nick Holley
I haven't watched any of the XFL and don't really plan to. I've scaled back my football pretty much to the Jets and that's fading. But I agree that the Jets need to look under every rock to find more talent, and especially in the "bargain bins"...you never know. I remember when the AFL was completely dismissed by the NFL, but see how that changed?
I tried to watch the games yesterday and saturday but couldn't find them with the cable package I have here (Spectrum). All the ESPN channels had college BB on. I gave up.
Matt Jones, RB for the St Louis team. I believe he spent some time in NFL, he deserves a second chance
Also, that wideout Tre McBride who was on our Jets practice squad for 2 years is an excellent receiver in the XFL. Maybe he deserves another shot
I’ve really enjoyed watching the XFL. There are a couple guys that I think will get some NFL looks but I don’t know if they will be with us. Pearson, WR for the Guardians has made some nice plays. Not fast enough or strong enough to be an every down guy in the NFL but he’s a real heads up player.
I was skeptical about the XFL but it's pretty exciting sometimes. I can see some of their quirky rules and scoring chances being implemented by the NFL. Especially the points after touchdowns. They have the option of 1 point, 2 or 3 points.
I'm very skeptical. Can't think of any players that had success in these defunct leagues and then had success in the NFL except a few Canadian League QB's decades ago. Remember Ricky Ray? He was awful even though he was a star in the CFL.
there are more examples than you think in just the past 5ish years. Very recently, Dan Brunskill of the 49ers started half the season at tackle for them. Mike Purcell was a nasty nose tackle for Denver this year. these guys were both in the now-defunct Alliance League AAFL. of course you have to know Cameron Wake, the Dolphins pass rusher who is literally a Jets killer and Brandon Browner the corner that won a Super Bowl in NE & Seattle. (CFL) its easy to get overlooked by the NFL, lots of guys just need an opportunity
I watched two XFL games and they were awful. I didn't see anyone worth signing and won't be watching any more XFL games.
Tommy Maddox was the XFL MVP back in the day. Rod Smart played five seasons. Paris Lenon played the longest at twelve seasons and got to play in a SuperBowl. They're few and far between but there are definitely some players in the XFL that will be in camp in August. We should take a look at some at our weakest positions. And our weakest positions happen to be the XFL's strongest. We're not going to find a Warren Moon. But if we find a #4 receiver with a camp invite or a futures contract we won.
If Austin Proehl is anything like his dad, Ricky, he'd be a good 3rd down receiver. My dad is friends with the Proehls. Good people.
