My top 50 players in 2010's draft. I expect most of the underclassmen to declare. This is NOT A MOCK, it's my rankings of players from 1-50. There are some really good players that didn't make the list, makes this draft very strong. I don't expect everyone to agree with my rankings. I spent alot of time making the list, moving players back and forth....comments appreciated. I think Gresham should be higher. Bad injury but is going to have a lot of time to recover. Also surprised to see Gerhart so high. I love him as a college player but how do you see him projecting as a pro? I'm not a huge Damian Williams fan either but that's more a personal opinion. Looks good though, you going to keep this updated as stock rises/falls in your mind?
I think Gerhart could be the next Jerome Bettis....all depends on the team that drafts him and how they use him. Needs to go to a run first team. Thanks...TCGF......it's fluid, I'll update it every month before the draft.
I take it Colt McCoy's omission means your not high on him. I agree completely, I'm not a fan of McCoy's NFL prospects. That being said I'd take Locker over Johnson. Good shit as usual WW
Nice list man. I really think Derrick Morgan should be in the top fifty players though. Morgan was named ACC Defensive Player of the Year because he's consistently dominant: 13 sacks and 17 TFLs.
Probably...Haden will probably be somewhere between 7-12...depending on team needs. I don't know if anyone one noticed.....I only have 2 CBs in the top 50. Not a strong draft for corners at the top of the draft. You can get some decent corners with later picks.
Perrish Cox should be a first rounder. The kid can fly and he's really become an all-around corner this season. You're definitely right about this being a weak draft for corners...
You're probably right! I had Morgan in my top 50 and than he just got bumped out. I like him, my reservation on Morgan, is if a 3-4 team drafts him as an OLB, he isn't going to do well. Morgan is an excellent pass rusher, and is a liability in coverage. I also question how he will fare against NFL OTs. Probably better suited for a 4-3 DE.
Derrick Morgan should play DE for a 4-3 end, but I could also see him having success out of the 3-4 as an OLB. I see a lot of Mike Vrabel and Shawne Merriman in Morgan. Dropping into coverage is definitely Morgan's biggest weakness. Terrell Suggs and Shawne Merriman can't cover worth a crap, but they get the job done.
Good point on Suggs and Merriman. I appreciate your comments, it's very difficult to put out a top 50...especially getting toward the end...alot of good players are left out. I will update this top 50 in about a month. You know better than anyone things will change big time before April. I think this a good starting point. Hell, 2/3 months ago I had Benn in my top 5. GH made a comment about the top 50 players, so I decided to post mine. I'm waiting for someone to say "Tebow should be higher than #36. Tebow will be a 1st rd pick, probably Jax. I think you suggested they need asses in the seats...but he's not a top player in this draft.
He's definitely not a top quarterback prospect, but Jacksonville needs to fill those seats or they'll lose that franchise. Timmy Tebow is one of the greatest college players of all time and I hope he succeeds at QB in the NFL, but if he fails, I'd really like to him play running back - not tight end or fullback, but running back. I think he'd be a hell of a powerback.
Like I said in the other thread, I admire your work on this WW. It's so hard to do a top 50, and that's made even more difficult by the type of class we're seeing this year. There are guys that should easily be first round picks that won't even make the list, it's crazy to think of the talent available.
Nice list, only mistake I think is having Tebow on the list at all, I think he is a great college player, but I do not see him making an impact in the NFL.
I'm not very high on most CBs in this draft. Joe Haden is the only one worth a first Rd grade. I think he's one of the most overrated players in the Big Ten. IMO, Warren is at best a late rd 2 pick. Some mocks have Warren in Rd 1 ....I think it's a bunch of crap.
I have Donovan Warren rated after Joe Haden. It'll be interesting to see who the second corner selected is: Warren or OK State's Perrish Cox. Warren reminds me a lot of Darrelle Revis with that way that he covers. He's a very good press cover corner. (EDIT: I'm not saying Donovan Warren will be as dominant as Darrelle Revis, but he is certainly on the same level physically. Revis is so damn good because he's a student of the game. His work ethic combined with outstanding athleticism is why he's the best corner in the NFL)
