My Happy New Year Jet's Mock draft.

Heavy on offense early, a few play makers that will make a difference.

    Prediction of 10 picks....added 4th & 6th Rd comp picks.

It's very difficult to predict Free Agency, I expect Idzik to bring in a Vet QB to back up Geno, maybe a player like Chad Henne who is a Free Agent. Also a WR in FA is a possibility.

ROUND 1 (#18) JACE AMARO, TE, TEXAS TECH - A big target that creates mismatches, linebackers can't cover Amaro, a WR in a TE's body. Best Offensive player on the Jet's board's at #18. Amaro hasn't declared yet, but all signs point to him leaving school....we might know more after tonight's game. Geno needs a big target and Amaro is exactly that player. Watkins, Ebron & Evans were all gone.

ROUND 2 BRANDIN COOKS, WR, OREGON STATE - Electric player that runs very well after the catch and can get physical for his size. I mentioned this earlier, he's a Santana Moss clone. One of my top players this year, I want him badly in Jet's Green & White.

ROUND 3A (from Tampa) JEREMIAH ATTAOCHU, OLB, GEORGIA TECH - Played with his hand down this year, but has played linebacker. 6'3" 245...good size and excels in coverage and can get after the QB, 13 sacks in 2013.

ROUND 3B RASHAAD REYNOLDS, CB, OREGON STATE - love this Kid's game, can play man to man. A little undersized, but makes up with a physical style of play. Jets really need another CB to be in the mix, even if Cro comes back. Stock may rise and could be out of reach in Mid rd 3.

ROUND 4 HAKEEM SMITH, S, LOUISVILLE - one of the better Safeties in College. Everyone talks about Teddy B, but Louisville's defense was pretty solid.

ROUND 4 (COMP) ANDREW NORWELL, OG/T, OHIO STATE - has played LT, RT and G, a potential future starter and adds solid depth. I like O lineman that are versatile.

ROUND 5 MICHAEL CAMPANARO, WR, WAKE FOREST - John Idzik has close ties with Wake Forest, Tommy Bo wasn't a fluke pick. A solid player that ended his season to injury. If I had to guess one pick that Idzik would make...this one is almost a sure thing.

ROUND 6 ADAM MUEMA, RB, SAN DIEGO STATE - very elusive and has a great motor, for a med size RB. I've seen 2 of his games this year and he was an exciting player that defenses had trouble handling.

ROUND 6 (Comp) BRYN RENNER, QB, NORTH CAROLINA - Injuries hurt his final year. Better option and potential than Sims, who I project to be gone after training camp.

ROUND 7 KIRBY VAN DER KAMP, P, IOWA STATE - best punter still available in Rd 7, Jets need an upgrade.

Cooks and Attaochu would be very nice pickups on day 2 of the draft.

I love the Cooks pick and actually think that if the jets want him he may have to go at your first round slot if Evans, Watkins, and Ebron are all gone.

That's ok with me though, I don't like Amaro at that pick. I just don't see the same level of talent that Ebron has. I think he and ASJ are sure fire second round guys, but not true game changes that a TE needs to be to get drafted in the first round.

The Attaochu pick is nice. as is the Reynolds pick. Of course you be bashed for taking defensive players though.

Lots of good depth / Special teams types in the later rounds. using the wake Forest tie in is very nice.

    Good work as usual.

PS, what are your thoughts on Benjamin. He's at the top of my WR man crush list right now if he declares.

    Appreciate the comments Guys.

Harp....Amaro is a WR playing TE, he has unbelievable #s, a complete mismatch, can't be covered. I like Ebron, he's probably an all around better TE, his lack of focus at times makes him drop easy catches...still a solid player. We still need some players on defense....and S, CB & OLB are 3 areas that need addressed.

Cooks is a tremendous play maker.

BTW, I'm still all in for Mike Evans, but don't think he will make it to 18, if Amaro was gone too, I'd draft Lee.

Huge target, not sure if he will declare. If he does declare probably a late Rd 1 selection.

Incredible amount of talent at WR, could be 10 wideouts drafted in the 1st 2 rounds.

Abberderis out of Wisconsin is a player to keep an eye on, he might be one of the best wideouts that transitions to the NFL and could be a late Rd 2 early 3rd pick.

I'll have to watch more of Amaro. I kept seeing Dustin Keller in the bit I watched. Not a great blocker and a good but not great receiver. I'll probably end up wrong with more viewing if you like him that much.

Good picks overall. Cooks is a stud from what I've seen. I've never seen Amaro play. I'll check him out tonight. I'm expecting a fluid WR type of TE if we're going to take him that high at 18. Campanaro is a nice value pick. That kid is a gamer. He could be our Welker/Edelman. Better make sure Belichick doesn't grab him first.

I actually really love Amaro. I think he has great fluidity for a guy his size and has more than enough speed to be a mismatch. I think his hands are also more reliable than Ebron's. That being said, part of me tells me that a WR might be more valuable at that pick. Getting Cooks in the 2nd certainly helps that though.

After watching Cooks during that bowl game, that fucker can move. He could be our punt returner too - when he is out on that open field watch out, not only can he accelerate quickly he has pretty good vision. Watching that bowl game, his ability to shift and change direction is legit. Where do we put him though? I think his ceiling is higher then a slot.

I think Cooks plays more like TY Hilton then Moss - but I see the comparison.

I hope we pick up a wide receiver, I doubt Evans falls to us - I really want a physical guy with excellent ball to eye coordination as well like an Allen Robinson. Cooks is a nice prospect though too.

I've watched Attaochu this year - I like how he uses his hands.

I like the Cooks/Amaro picks, although could see Cooks gone by the late 2nd. I don't focus much on the defensive side of the ball or the deeper rounds so can't comment there.

How about DeVante Parker or Davante Adams in the late second? Think they'd be available? Parker hasn't declared yet but I believe that's the best option with Bridgewater leaving.

I watched these two game break downs and am 100% sold of Amaro. I actually prefer him over Ebron

Excellent job. Would be very happy with that draft. I'm not very high on Bryn Renner, but we can't have everything.

I would be very happy with this draft, although I would personally prefer Jordan Matthews to Brandin Cooks. I'm particularly fond of Van der Kamp, as I've posted before.

Amaro is the real deal from what I've seen in the 1st half. Moves very well for a guy his size. He just broke FBS record for most receiving yds in a season for a TE. Showing good blocking skills too.

Amaro is making you look real good ww85....

Never had seen him play but wow Im impressed... he would be such a safety blanket for Geno especially on third down.

Assuming Watkins and Evans are gone by 18, I would be good with Lee, Ebron, or Amaro. But it's early this will rise and drop
