Here's my attempt at my first round projection.

Seattle is blowing smoke about Sanchez, they take the second best OT. Mangini takes the best defense player on the board...Raji. Crabtree is a smokescreen, Browns were never interested. Bengals take the troubled Andre Smith....a shocker..LOL. Sanchez to # 8, since the Jets or Skins may trade up.

I wasn't projecting Maclin to #17, but that is the way the board fell, it's very possible. San Diego is very interested in Moreno and may be gone just before the Jets.

I don't think the Browns will take Raji when they've got Rogers on the roster. Their defensive line needs some improvement, bother other areas need so much more.

Raji is the best defensive player on the board and Roger's future in Cleveland is up in the air.

I think Seattle goes in a different direction, but it's possible.

I'd be surprised if they took a defensive lineman there. And plus I'm not sure that he's a "Mangini guy" (Wow, I can't believe I just brought that back).

And I think Andre Smith falls past that..

I could see that trade happening. I would be OK with it I suppose. I do really like Sanchez as a prospect.

I just don't see Tyson Jackson getting past the Packers anymore based on everything I've heard recently..

And I see Aaron Maybin falling to the bottom of the 1st at best.

A few issues with your top 15 in my opinion as we don't quite see eye to eye, but the final 17 looks solid

I agree the Rodger/Mangini situation is not a good. I could very easily see the Browns taking Raji and shipping Rodgers out on draft day.

I'd get physically ill if we traded away our draft for Sanchez, and Maclin fell to 17.
I've said before i think Maclin may drop. If anything in this draft we trade back, not up. I have my doubts on Sanchez.

Mangini could and should draft Raji and not trade away Rogers. Maybe he'll learn from his mistakes and coach up talent rather than ship them out, but i doubt it. He's just not a flexible coach and needs an NT, thus the Raji pick.

Ariz would do flips if Brown is there. I think that is guy they are hoping for.

Excellent work as usual, WW85, but of course that's to be expected

I would be thrilled if Maclin slid to the Jets, and I agree that it is possible .. not likely, but possible

On a side note, I have never had such a hard time with the TOP 5 alone, heck even the TOP 3

Right now the only thing I feel relatively confident about is Stafford at #1

After that I can see the Rams taking Jason Smith, Crabtree, Curry, Monroe .. heck, even Mark Sanchez!

    ... and I didn't even get to #3 yet! :eek:hmy:

In fact there is not one team in the TOP 5 (following Detriot) where I can say if "THIS PLAYER" is available, that is the player they are definitely taking ... I thought I could at least say that about the Chiefs and Aaron Curry, but now Gil Brandt is insisting Tyson Jackson "WILL" Go in the TOP 5 and Vacciano is hearing KC loves him

    So now I'm really lost

Right now my best guess on the TOP 5 ...

    DET - Stafford
    STL - J. Smith
    KC - Curry
    SEA - Sanchez
    CLE - Jackson

Of course I don't think Jackson belongs in the TOP 5, but there's a good chance you will go broke betting against Gil Brandt

The top five is getting crazier by the minute.

...I wouldn't bet on Sanchez going to Seattle now - their GM just made statement that they will stick with Hasselbeck and they don't plan on drafting a QB high in this draft. This could be a smokescreen, but it makes more sense for them to go offensive line or wideout.

I saw the reports of Tyson Jackson in the top five and I was dumb-founded, but Gil Brandt usually knows his stuff - if the Chiefs pass on Curry for Jackson, that will be one of the dumbest moves in sports.

E, forget the TOP 5, even the #2 Pick is a tough call

    Think about it ....

Of course you wouldn't be surprised if the Rams took Jason Smith, but you probably wouldn't be surprised if they opted for Monroe instead (provided that knee checks out fine)

BUT ... would you really be surprised if the Rams tossed everyone a curveball and took Mark Sanchez?

I mean lets be real, its not like Mark Bulger is Dan Fouts ... heck, at one point last year Bulger was so bad he got benched!!

So would you be shocked if they took Sanchez ... really?

How bout Crabtree .. Bruce & Holt are both gone and right now their best WR is Avery, the speedy smurf who would make the perfect complimentary #2 to Michael Crabtree

And have you seen the Rams linebackers? ... Peeeeee-eeeeeeeeeeeeew! ... that unit stinks

So would you be shocked if they drafted Curry?

See what I'm saying, E ... we haven't even gotten to #3 yet and already we can't feel at all sure about #2

This is why the draft is so great though - it allows a bottom team like St. Louis to go in a number of different directions. The Jets fate is in every single team ahead of them...

If I were St. Louis, I'd draft Aaron Curry, but they want to run the football a lot with Steven Jackson, so a tackle makes sense.

(Another crazy thing I've heard: The Bengals will choose between BJ Raji and...Andre Smith with the 6th pick)

What I don't understand is how can Tyson Jackson's stock increase to a top 5 pick in a matter of freaking days? He hasn't played a lick of football since December. I respect Brandt, he knows his stuff, but IMO, he's waaaay off base. Curry, Raji & Brown are the 3 top defensive players in this draft.

No way Jackson will be a top 5 pick....it's insane.

    No way?

Anything is possible. Freeman could go top 5, very doubtful, but ya never know.

I also hear Abyzmul could go top 5. Again, its unlikely.

Maybe he's been there. Scott Wright's had him in the top 10 for a while. Though I agree top 5 is a little crazy.

Scott Wright is one of the worst draft guru's, I use the word "guru" with caution, he has no clue on ranking player's ability.

Tyson Jackson has been a projected by most as mid 1st rd pick for months.

One thing for sure, i expect the Lions to go OT or LB, but I don't expect them to go QB.
Stafford wasn't going to make the Lions any better this year anyway. They could get Curry and still go OT with their later 1st Rd pick. That would be good for them.

Tyson Jackson is the only true 3-4 defensive end, and more teams are going 3-4, so his stock rising doesn't surprise me, but top 5 would be surprising.

Really? I think Stafford will sign with the Lions today. If your scenario comes true, it will throw a monkeywrench into the top of the draft, not that it isn't crazy already.

Jackson will probably be a top ten pick, with all the hype.....maybe Green Bay. He isn't a top 5 player and any GM willing to give him that kind of coin is nuts.

The more I think of it, the more sense it makes to me anyway for the Lions to go in another direction.
They have a real chance to get two impact players who can start right away.
Yeah the reports are saying that the Lions are looking to sign Stafford today, but I believe they are also looking to sign a number of people.
QB as we know always sounds sexier than OT or LB, but if the Lions are smart, they will hold on this QB thing and get some players who can play now.
Stafford wasn't going to beat out Culpepper so there is no rush at least in my opinion.

And I do believe this will be an unpredictable draft.
    Monkeywrench in effect
